Flamenco collectibles exhibition in Jerez

The new ExpoFlamenco Jerez shop (2 Corredera Street) is hosting an interesting exhibition of flamenco collectibles. Admission is free until the end of November.

I’ve been a flamenco critic and aficionado for over forty years, and since I started going to theaters, festivals and peñas I often kept posters or hand programs of these events in my archives, by the hundreds. I collect books, records, posters, lyric booklets, sheet music, magazines and everything that has to do with flamenco, particularly documents.

On occasion of the opening of the ExpoFlamenco Jerez shop, on number 2 Corredera Street, we set up an exhibition of flamenco documents in that location open to the general public from 10 AM to 9 PM. Admission is free and there’s no obligation to buy anything.

What is featured in this exhibition? There are, for example, manuscripts by Ricardo Molina, guitarist Pepe MartínezJuan de la Plata, Félix Grande and Amós Rodríguez. Autographed books by Anselmo González Climent, Fernando el de Triana and Narciso Díaz de Escobar. An invoice of Ideal Concert, a café cantante in Seville. A hand program signed by Manolo Caracol and Lola Flores. A flat cap that belonged to Pepe Marchena, Tomás Pavón’s gramophone, Manuel Vallejo ‘s dance boots and Mario Maya‘s dance outfit. There are also very old magazines, books, posters, hand programs, photographs, postcards and odd records. Yet, it’s better to see it all up close. This exhibition will be open until the end of the month.
