Es decir, los \u00faltimos cuarenta a\u00f1os. Ver bailar sobre un escenario y en la intimidad, en fiestas, a bailaoras como <strong>Pilar L\u00f3pez, Matilde Coral, Angelita Vargas, Manuela Carrasco, Pepa Montes, Milagros Meng\u00edbar<\/strong> y <strong>La Yerbabuena<\/strong>, y a bailaores como <strong>Antonio, Enrique el Cojo, Antonio Gades, Farruco, Rafael el Negro, Juan Montoya, Mario Maya, El G\u00fcito, Paco Vega, Dieguito el de la Margara, Pepe Torres<\/strong> y <strong>Farruquito<\/strong>, ha sido un privilegio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Farruco<\/strong> es a\u00fan un dios para m\u00ed, aunque ya no est\u00e9. Fuimos grandes amigos, aunque no muchos a\u00f1os, los justos para entender su personal manera de vivir y bailar. \u00c9l y <strong>Mario Maya<\/strong> han sido para m\u00ed la base del baile que me gusta, Farruco, por su pureza y frescura gitana. Y Mario, por su talento, compromiso y capacidad creadora. Si me gusta el baile con locura, quiz\u00e1 m\u00e1s que el cante y la guitarra, es en parte por estos dos genios a los que trat\u00e9 mucho y ador\u00e9 por encima incluso del baile.<\/p>\n<p>Entre los dos coloco a otro bailaor que me ha gustado siempre mucho, el granadino <strong>Manolete<\/strong>, amigo tambi\u00e9n y gitano elegante y buena gente donde los haya. Granadino castizo, es de los bailaores m\u00e1s grandes no solo de esa tierra, sino de la historia del flamenco. Mezcla de t\u00e9cnica, arte y oficio, su farruca es como una sinfon\u00eda en movimiento. Pero al margen de la farruca, que es el baile que siempre solemos destacar los cr\u00edticos, Manolete es capaz de brillar en cualquier palo del baile porque naci\u00f3 para bailar. No me lo imagino haciendo otras cosas: estar detr\u00e1s de un mostrador, vender en un mercadillo, dirigir una empresa o jugar al f\u00fatbol. Lo ves en el escenario o andar por una calle cualquiera y enseguida sabes que es bailaor o torero. Si acaso, torero.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manuel Santiago Maya<\/strong>, que as\u00ed se llama desde 1945, naci\u00f3 en el Sacromonte granadino y es hermano de un gran guitarrista, <strong>Marote<\/strong>. Tras buscarse la vida por las cuevas de su barrio natal, se fue a Madrid siendo un adolescente y fue all\u00ed donde se hizo profesional del baile viendo bailar a <strong>Gades, Mario Maya<\/strong> o <strong>El G\u00fcito<\/strong>. Desde entonces no ha parado de bailar, de montar espect\u00e1culos y de crear coreograf\u00edas. A Mario Maya no le sentaba nada bien que le llamaran bailaor, a secas, porque siempre crey\u00f3 que era algo m\u00e1s que eso. \u201cBailaor es cualquiera\u201d, me dijo una ma\u00f1ana mientras desayun\u00e1bamos en un bar del Prado de San Sebasti\u00e1n, en Sevilla. No s\u00e9 si le pasa lo mismo al maestro Manolete, pero tambi\u00e9n es algo m\u00e1s que un bailaor. Es un gran core\u00f3grafo.<\/p>\n<p>Me he alegrado mucho que vaya a recibir un gran homenaje en Granada, en concreto el d\u00eda 28 de marzo y en el Palacio de Congresos. Con un cartel, por cierto, casi inmejorable.
