Estimado maestro Tomasa:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Corr\u00eda 1976 cuando supe de usted la primera vez. Yo ten\u00eda 18 a\u00f1os y usted 24, luego \u00e9ramos casi de la misma generaci\u00f3n de cantaores. No s\u00e9 si lo sab\u00eda, pero quise ser cantaor y parecerme a usted y a Jos\u00e9 Antonio Mu\u00f1oz El Chozas<\/em><\/strong>. Acababa de morir el dictador y Espa\u00f1a comenzaba a cambiar y a respirar. Me sab\u00eda de memoria todo su repertorio, que a\u00fan recuerdo, aunque ya no canto porque me di cuenta de que no val\u00eda para las tablas. Usted ten\u00eda un sello, una mezcla de los Torres<\/strong> y Pies de Plomo<\/strong>, un cantaor sevillano poco valorado.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Antonio Mairena<\/strong> lleg\u00f3 a decirme que usted ocupar\u00eda su puesto alg\u00fan d\u00eda, seguramente dado su amor por Manuel<\/strong> y Pepe Torres<\/strong>. No ha sucedido eso, por desgracia, pero ocupa un puesto importante para una minor\u00eda de aficionados cabales. Le ha faltado ambici\u00f3n, si me lo permite, para mandar en el cante, que anda sin mand\u00f3n, sin un Mairena o una Ni\u00f1a de los Peines<\/strong> que tiren del carro. Usted es un ser humano libre, sin ataduras a nada ni a nadie, y eso es bueno. Somos muy parecidos.<\/p>\n

\u00abPara quedar en la historia del cante no le van a hacer falta cincuenta discos, porque ya lo est\u00e1. Es ya un cl\u00e1sico hist\u00f3rico del cante jondo, aunque me parece que no le importa mucho. Los hombres libres lo son con todas las consecuencias\u00bb<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

Pero los grandes maestros, y usted lo es, necesitan esa responsabilidad de la que ha huido siempre. Le han podido siempre sus otras grandes pasiones, como son la pesca, el mar y el Real Betis. Para quedar en la historia del cante no le van a hacer falta cincuenta discos, porque ya lo est\u00e1, es ya un cl\u00e1sico hist\u00f3rico del cante jondo, aunque me parece que no le importa mucho. Los hombres libres lo son con todas las consecuencias.<\/p>\n

Ha sido un honor echar este ratito en La Barqueta<\/strong>, donde sus abuelos y su padre, y sus t\u00edos, se buscaban la vida con los peces. Tom\u00e1s Pav\u00f3n<\/strong> y su abuelo Pepe Torres se ven\u00edan a este lugar a rumiar sus penas con ca\u00f1as de bamb\u00fa hechas por ellos mismos. Se agradece este rato y el cari\u00f1o, estimado maestro Tomasa, porque est\u00e1 el cante muy malaje desde hace a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n
