{"id":40955,"date":"2023-04-09T10:40:11","date_gmt":"2023-04-09T08:40:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=40955"},"modified":"2023-05-01T16:53:45","modified_gmt":"2023-05-01T14:53:45","slug":"el-fandango-en-el-rock-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/opinion-archivo\/el-fandango-en-el-rock-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"El fandango en el rock (II)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>En la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/opinion-archivo\/el-fandango-en-el-rock-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">entrada anterior<\/a> pudimos o\u00edr a unas cuantas bandas y solistas de rock que grabaron canciones inspiradas en malague\u00f1as, grana\u00ednas, tarantos y fandangos. Al principio del art\u00edculo record\u00e1bamos la portada de un disco de los <strong>ZZ Top<\/strong>, <em>Fandango!,<\/em> y tambi\u00e9n a la banda de <strong>Joe Lynn Turner<\/strong>, de igual nombre. Ahora traemos a colaci\u00f3n a un grupo de cinco adolescentes mexicanas llamado <strong>Fandango<\/strong>. El ide\u00f3logo fue el productor <strong>Abelardo Real<\/strong>, que cre\u00f3 para ellas un sonido de pop sint\u00e9tico y <em>chicloso<\/em> al estilo de Bananarama o las Bangles. Su segundo LP fue disco de oro y se llam\u00f3 <em>Autos, moda y rock and roll<\/em> (Emi Capitol, 1987). Pese al t\u00edtulo, ten\u00eda poco que ver con el rock y mucho con el pl\u00e1stico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2-Fandango-Autos-moda-y-rock-and-Roll.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-40960\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2-Fandango-Autos-moda-y-rock-and-Roll.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2-Fandango-Autos-moda-y-rock-and-Roll.jpg 599w, https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2-Fandango-Autos-moda-y-rock-and-Roll-300x298.jpg 300w, https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2-Fandango-Autos-moda-y-rock-and-Roll-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/2-Fandango-Autos-moda-y-rock-and-Roll-114x114.jpg 114w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>En esta segunda entrega un ilustre pariente del fandango, el bolero, tendr\u00e1 una presencia importante. Como ya dijimos, lo que se trata en definitiva es de escuchar buena m\u00fasica sin prejuicios de ning\u00fan tipo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Jeff Beck<\/h2>\n<p>El pasado 10 de enero falleci\u00f3 uno de los mejores guitarristas de rock, <strong>Jeff Beck<\/strong>, que form\u00f3 parte de <strong>The Yardbirds<\/strong>, grupo pionero del rock y rhythm and blues brit\u00e1nicos. Esta formaci\u00f3n es bien conocida porque cont\u00f3 con otros dos fenomenales guitarristas, <strong>Eric Clapton<\/strong> y <strong>Jimmy Page<\/strong>, antes de formar <strong>Led Zeppelin<\/strong>. En 1966 Beck deja a los Yardbirds y es cuando entra Page. Ese mismo a\u00f1o Beck graba una composici\u00f3n de su amigo Jimmy Page titulada <strong><em>Bolero\u2019s Beck<\/em><\/strong>. El tema aparece como cara B del single <em>Hi Ho Silver Lining<\/em> (Columbia, 1967) y formar\u00e1 parte de su primer LP en solitario, <em>Truth<\/em> (Columbia, 1968), que cont\u00f3 con <strong>Rod Stewart<\/strong> como cantante. La formaci\u00f3n que acompa\u00f1a a Beck en el tema es de ensue\u00f1o. La base de bolero la llevan la bater\u00eda de <strong>Keith Moon<\/strong> (miembro de <strong>The Who<\/strong>), Jimmy Page, con una guitarra de 12 cuerdas,<strong> John Paul Jones<\/strong> al bajo (que luego lo ser\u00e1 en Led Zeppelin) y el gran pianista <strong>Nicky Hopkins<\/strong> (apabulla la lista de grandes grupos con los que ha colaborado). Poco antes de llegar a la mitad del tema, Moon lanza un alarido y rompe de manera salvaje con la din\u00e1mica del tema, que volver\u00e1 poco m\u00e1s tarde por los cauces del bolero. El zambombazo del malogrado baterista fue tremendo, pues tir\u00f3 los micros de los bombos de la bater\u00eda. En 1970 estrenaron su formaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s cl\u00e1sica para grabar el cuarto disco, el descomunal <strong><em>In Rock<\/em><\/strong> (Harvest, 1970). En el \u00e1lbum aparece <strong><em>Child in Time<\/em><\/strong>, un tema en el que <strong>Ian Gillan<\/strong> hace alarde de sus dotes vocales con unos inolvidables gritos que culminan a ritmo de bolero marcado por el baterista <strong>Ian Paice<\/strong> (en 3:20). El principio es un calco de <em>Bombay Calling<\/em> del grupo de San Francisco <strong>It\u2019s a Beautiful Day<\/strong>, que aparece en su primer disco, <em>It\u2019s a Beautiful Day<\/em> (Columbia, 1969).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"It&#039;s a Beautiful Day - Bombay Calling [Psychedelic Rock] (1969)\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zANOhnrdTZg?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>King Crimson<\/h2>\n<p>King Crimson ha sido (y sigue siendo) una de las mejores bandas de rock progresivo de todos los tiempos. En su tercer LP, <strong><em>Lizard<\/em><\/strong> (Island, 1970), se halla <strong><em>Bolero-The Peacoks Tale<\/em><\/strong>, instrumental en el que el mismo ritmo del <em>Bolero<\/em> de Ravel lo lleva el baterista <strong>Andy McCulloch<\/strong>. No muy conocida es la banda Blackfeather. En su disco debut, <strong><em>At the Mountains of Madness<\/em><\/strong> (Infinity, 1971), se descuelgan con el curios\u00edsimo <em><strong>Mangos Theme, Pt. 2<\/strong>,<\/em> tema en el que bajo el soporte del bolero asoman sonoridades andaluzas y morunas. El conjunto es un claro ejemplo de rock sinf\u00f3nico de sabor hispano hecho en\u2026 \u00a1Australia! Como an\u00e9cdota cabe decir que en el tema <em>Seasons of Change Pt 1<\/em> toca los timbales y la pandereta <strong>Bon Scott<\/strong>, el malogrado y carism\u00e1tico cantante de AC\/DC entre 1974 y 1980.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/7-Blackfeather.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-40973\" src=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/7-Blackfeather.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/7-Blackfeather.jpg 600w, https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/7-Blackfeather-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/7-Blackfeather-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/7-Blackfeather-114x114.jpg 114w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>En el mismo disco de Blackfeather se encuentra <em><strong>Spanish Blues<\/strong>,<\/em> que forma parte del largo tema <strong><em>The Rat (Suite)<\/em><\/strong>. En el min. 7:07 el piano de <strong>John Bisset<\/strong> y la guitarra de <strong>John Robinson<\/strong> anuncian aromas espa\u00f1oles que se van adentrando poco a poco y de manera natural en la malague\u00f1a de Lecuona.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Rat Suite: Main Title\" width=\"1060\" height=\"795\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mcF7sEZumnY?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Carmen<\/h2>\n<p>Del primer disco del grupo brit\u00e1nico-estadounidense <strong>Carmen<\/strong> nos ocupamos en la anterior entrega. En su tercer y \u00faltimo LP, <strong><em>Dancing on a Cold Wind<\/em><\/strong> (Regal Zonophone, 1975), toman para la portada el logo de la marca de cigarrillos franceses Gitanes (mi admirado <strong>J.J. Cale<\/strong> recrea ese mismo dise\u00f1o para su disco <em>Shades<\/em>, de 1981). Ellos siguieron fieles al esp\u00edritu ecl\u00e9ctico con el que cocinaban un rock progresivo de sabor hispano-flamenco-kitsch. Al final del tema <strong><em>Viva mi Sevilla<\/em><\/strong> (5:23) aparece el ritmo del bolero, de forma muy parecida a como hicieron los Deep Purple en <em>Child In Time<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La portada y contraportada del disco de Carmen abren este art\u00edculo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Carmen - Viva mi Sevilla\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VBu0kql0Uxs?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Queen<\/h2>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n tira de bolero <strong>Queen<\/strong>, la banda brit\u00e1nica liderada por <strong>Freddie Mercury<\/strong>, en el tema <strong><em>Innuendo<\/em><\/strong>, del \u00e1lbum hom\u00f3nimo (Hollywood Records, 1991). Fue el \u00faltimo disco que grab\u00f3 Mercury, que falleci\u00f3 en noviembre de ese a\u00f1o. Se trata de una compleja composici\u00f3n con varias partes que comienza con la bater\u00eda de <strong>Roger Taylor<\/strong> marcando el ritmo del bolero. <strong>Brian May<\/strong> le sacaba jugosas sonoridades andaluzas a su guitarra el\u00e9ctrica, pero no le pasaba igual con la espa\u00f1ola. Casualmente, por el estudio asom\u00f3 a saludar al productor <strong>David Richards<\/strong> un virtuoso guitarrista amigo de Mercury. Era nada m\u00e1s y nada menos que <strong>Steve Howe<\/strong>, de la banda de rock sinf\u00f3nico <strong>Yes<\/strong>.
