No es que en Jerez solo canten los de la tierra, aunque casi. Ser\u00e1 seguramente por la gran cantidad de artistas que hay siempre en Jerez. Hay una an\u00e9cdota muy buena de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!Cincuenta-y-seis-a%C3%B1os-sin-Vallejo\/c112t\/57a7f29a0cf2fdb0f74c5fa8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manuel Vallejo<\/a>, de cuando fue a cantar a la plaza de toros a finales de los a\u00f1os veinte del pasado siglo. Cant\u00f3 por buler\u00edas y alguien le grit\u00f3 desde el tendido: \u201c\u00a1Vallejo, para cantar por buler\u00edas en Jerez hay que beber agua del Tempul!\u201d. A lo que Vallejo respondi\u00f3: \u201cEn el Tempul me lavo yo los pies\u201d. Cant\u00f3 por buler\u00edas el maestro sevillano y arm\u00f3 el l\u00edo, porque Vallejo bord\u00f3 ese palo en oro puro.<\/p>\n<p>No me gusta repetirme \u2013algo dif\u00edcil cuando se escribe tanto\u2013, pero los jerezanos son muy suyos y de lo suyo. Ya me gustar\u00eda a m\u00ed que los sevillanos fueran de la misma manera, pero no lo son. Sevilla es un poco madre de artistas de todas partes, desde el siglo XIX, cuando iban a sus caf\u00e9s cantantes los artistas gaditanos, jerezanos, portuenses o malague\u00f1os. Podr\u00eda dar nombres, pero la lista ser\u00eda interminable. En cambio, si miramos lo que se daba en los caf\u00e9s jerezanos, apenas hab\u00eda artistas sevillanos o malague\u00f1os. Salvo cuando sal\u00eda uno que acababa con el cuadro, como cuando sali\u00f3\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!Silverio-y-la-desmemoriada-Sevilla\/c112t\/5626e3090cf2c6c64380ea3b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Silverio Franconetti<\/a>\u00a0y cada vez que iba a cantar a Jerez la liaba.<\/p>\n<p>El mismo\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!Hablando-de-cante-con-Mairena\/c112t\/5760d1d50cf29542aa289730\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Antonio Mairena<\/a>\u00a0tard\u00f3 mucho en entrar en Jerez y tuvo que hacerlo de la mano del guitarrista\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!El-abuelo-y-Manuel-Morao\/c112t\/575e46ab0cf2a5fcbcd08742\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manuel Morao<\/a>, quien se encarg\u00f3 de presentarlo y meterlo en las fiestas particulares para que se empapara de todo en el ambiente. Lo cuenta el propio Manuel en el libro que escribi\u00f3 sobre su vida Juan Manuel Su\u00e1rez Jap\u00f3n. Luego, parte de la flamenquer\u00eda jerezana se hizo muy mairenista, quiz\u00e1 porque el propio Mairena era muy jerezanista, gran admirador de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!Aquel-genial-Ni%C3%B1o-de-Torres\/c112t\/5785bdb80cf2e25833791608\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Manuel Torres<\/a>\u00a0y de otros artistas de la tierra.<\/p>\n<p>Pero lo de Jerez no es solo con artistas de otras provincias, sino con sus propis artistas. \u00bfO es que Jerez le ha hecho justicia al gran maestro\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!Antonio-Chac%C3%B3n\/c112t\/56771a790cf28854b38dc92e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chac\u00f3n<\/a>? Ni a Chac\u00f3n ni al Ni\u00f1o Medina, por no hablar de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/single-post\/2017\/11\/19\/Jos%C3%A9-Cepero-y-Antonio-Conde\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jos\u00e9 Cepero<\/a>. Fui amigo de Manuel Soto Monge\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!Manuel-Soto-Sordera\/c112t\/55f754a80cf2de902a868a93\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">El Sordera<\/a>, para m\u00ed uno de los grandes del cante jerezano de buena escuela. Una noche cant\u00f3 en una pe\u00f1a flamenca de Sevilla y tuve el honor de presentarlo en el escenario, algo que no olvidar\u00e9 jam\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando empez\u00f3 a cantar, se percat\u00f3 de que hab\u00eda entrado en el sal\u00f3n de actos el gran\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/single-post\/2016\/05\/17\/Un-cantaor-de-cantaores\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Antonio el de la Carz\u00e1<\/a> y dej\u00f3 de cantar para darle un abrazo y confesarle su admiraci\u00f3n. Esa noche habl\u00e9 con Manuel Sordera sobre artistas sevillanos y al llegar a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!Aquel-jilguero-de-Marchena\/c112t\/5661105c0cf25333685e0a03\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marchena<\/a>, me dijo: \u201cEse era un bicho, pero en Jerez no gustaba mucho\u201d.
