El patio de la Fuenlonguilla, a\u00f1o 2001, escenario habitual de la <strong>Reuni\u00f3n de Cante Jondo de La Puebla de Cazalla<\/strong>, lleno hasta la bandera imaginaria. Un p\u00fablico respetuoso y agradecido, como cada a\u00f1o en este hist\u00f3rico festival, uno de los m\u00e1s antiguos de Andaluc\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cuando llega el momento del baile, se presenta <strong>Manuel Santiago Maya \u201cManolete\u201d<\/strong>, y parece que una carga el\u00e9ctrica hace saltar de sus sillas de pl\u00e1stico a cientos de aficionados japoneses de cuya presencia no me hab\u00eda percatado hasta ese momento. Fue como ver brotar flores espont\u00e1nea y autom\u00e1ticamente de un jard\u00edn de aficionados. Manolete\u2026 sobriedad, dignidad y elegancia en sus cl\u00e1sicas alegr\u00edas. Los aficionados nipones quer\u00edan quedarse en pie, pero las protestas del resto del p\u00fablico lograron que se sentaran.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La tensa serenidad del bailaor es un poema de arte grande que provoca los gritos continuos de \u201c\u00a1maestro!\u201d que llenan la noche. S\u00f3lo en una ocasi\u00f3n hab\u00eda observado semejante expresi\u00f3n de admiraci\u00f3n a ultranza por un int\u00e9rprete de flamenco, que fue cuando <strong>Camar\u00f3n<\/strong> cant\u00f3 en el front\u00f3n de Madrid en los a\u00f1os 70, y el enorme aforo se llen\u00f3 de familias enteras.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Volvamos a La Puebla\u2026 Acaba el baile de Manolete. Otra vez el p\u00fablico en pie como una pieza, los aplausos suenan a fuegos artificiales fuera de control y los admiradores de fuera no vuelven a tomar asiento a pesar del medio programa que a\u00fan queda. Como por resorte, los incondicionales de Manolete abandonan el recinto que queda medio vac\u00edo. As\u00ed era y sigue siendo la adoraci\u00f3n, el encumbramiento absoluto de un gran bailaor granadino que nos ha dejado hu\u00e9rfanos hace pocos d\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00abManuel Santiago Maya, una importante pieza del baile flamenco ya no est\u00e1. Un estilo de l\u00edneas cubistas que ha podido calarse en otros abanderados del g\u00e9nero como los Farrucos, Antonio Canales o el G\u00fcito, entre otros\u00bb<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Baile geom\u00e9trico, pero nunca fr\u00edo. Inspirado minimalismo. Es la identidad de esta cantera de baile que es Granada plasmada en Manolete, su rostro esculpido en granito y su erguida figura, la perfecta estampa de elegante patriarca, con la bendici\u00f3n de haber podido ser gran transmisor de sus conocimientos a toda una generaci\u00f3n emergente.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Manuel Santiago Maya, una importante pieza del baile flamenco ya no est\u00e1. Un estilo de l\u00edneas cubistas que ha podido calarse en otros abanderados del g\u00e9nero como los <strong>Farrucos, Antonio Canales<\/strong> o <strong>el G\u00fcito<\/strong>, entre otros.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Me es imposible no pensar en estos momentos en su hermano, <strong>Juan Maya <em>Marote<\/em><\/strong>, reflejo de Manolete en guitarra que nos dej\u00f3 en el 2002, y que tambi\u00e9n hab\u00eda sido bailaor en sus comienzos. Veo a los dos juntos en la imagen que aqu\u00ed encabeza, caminando garbosos en perfecta armon\u00eda jonda, llev\u00e1ndose mutuamente en volandas hacia la verdad flamenca.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>El veterano bailaor granadino <strong>Antonio Santaella<\/strong>, maestro de tantos j\u00f3venes, dijo estas palabras al conocer la triste noticia: \u201cManolete fue un perfecto junco, bailaba de todo con una facilidad, como si no le costara nada. Los pies, fuertes e impecables, y una l\u00ednea natural dibujada por los dioses. Tres nombres identifican aquella \u00e9poca del baile: <strong>Mario Maya<\/strong>, El G\u00fcito y el de nuestro a\u00f1orado Manolete\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ese minimalismo, esa presencia que llenaba el escenario, el flamenco en bandeja de Manolete el de Granada al que no volveremos a ver.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\">Imagen superior: Marote y Manolete.
