Pero as\u00ed y todo he decidido escribir sobre esta mujer, porque me parece una aficionada fuera de lo com\u00fan. Asumo el riesgo. La conoc\u00ed hace ya unos cuantos a\u00f1os, cuando me cit\u00f3 un d\u00eda en la calle Sierpes de Sevilla para hablarme de un proyecto interesante, la creaci\u00f3n de un portal de flamenco, donde yo ser\u00eda parte importante como columnista de opini\u00f3n. Despu\u00e9s de la reuni\u00f3n, en la que estaba tambi\u00e9n su marido, <strong>Mitch Helten<\/strong>, pens\u00e9 que aquello no llegar\u00eda a nada, porque ya hab\u00eda tenido otras propuestas parecidas que no llegaron nunca a buen puerto.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, al poco tiempo me mand\u00f3 raz\u00f3n de que ya estaba todo en marcha y que esperaba mis art\u00edculos, tres por semana. No me lo pod\u00eda creer, pero era tan cierto que de eso hace ya tres a\u00f1os y aqu\u00ed estamos, con ExpoFlamenco como un portal dedicado a este arte, que se consolid\u00f3 hace tiempo como una de las tribunas flamencas m\u00e1s seguidas en el mundo. Sobre todo, un portal seguido por los verdaderos aficionados, y eso es en realidad lo que nos gusta y por lo que luchamos cada d\u00eda. Y sin buscar unos beneficios econ\u00f3micos, aunque lo ideal es que no fuera tan costoso como es, ante la falta de publicidad.<\/p>\n<p>Mitch y <strong>Jafelin<\/strong> son unos mecenas de este arte. Pero Jafelin es, adem\u00e1s de eso, una mujer que canta, que adora el cante y que se desvive por \u00e9l. Tiene una afici\u00f3n que me conmueve y que echo de menos en personas de Andaluc\u00eda. Ella es venezolana afincada en <strong>Vancouver, Canad\u00e1<\/strong>. En este pa\u00eds hay alguna afici\u00f3n, pero ella tiene problemas hasta para encontrar un buen guitarrista con el que poder ensayar y a veces contrata a uno de Andaluc\u00eda para que est\u00e9 algunas semanas en su casa y poder montar un repertorio.<\/p>\n<p>Jafelin canta flamenco y, sinceramente, es incre\u00edble c\u00f3mo conoce los cantes, todo el cante. Recuerdo que con motivo de una fiesta que le dimos en <strong>Mairena del Alcor<\/strong> para agasajarla cuando vino de visita, cant\u00f3 diez o doce minutos unos jaleos extreme\u00f1os y me qued\u00e9 turulato. Repas\u00f3 todos los estilos y escuelas y acab\u00f3 creando un rollo incre\u00edble en la <strong>Venta de los Conejos<\/strong>. A su manera, claro, porque ser\u00e1 dif\u00edcil que llegue a sonar como <strong>La Ka\u00edta<\/strong> o a tener el aire de <strong>Juan Cantero<\/strong>. Es que ni siquiera lo va a intentar. Me gusta precisamente eso de Jafelin, que sabe hasta d\u00f3nde puede llegar y que canta con su voz, una voz preciosa, con una musicalidad de las tierras que han sido importantes en su vida.<\/p>\n<p>Si se esforzara en parecerse a alguien no me gustar\u00eda tanto. Su voz tiene el encanto de esa musicalidad tan personal. La importancia est\u00e1 en su sello. No s\u00e9 si lograr\u00e1 o no hacer realidad el sue\u00f1o de cantar por Andaluc\u00eda de una manera profesional. No lo tiene f\u00e1cil. Pero ella es feliz cantando, estudiando, aprendiendo, amando el cante de esa manera tan apasionada. Y junto a Mitch Helten, su marido, est\u00e1n metiendo el hombro para que el flamenco sea cada d\u00eda m\u00e1s grande y mejor entendido en todo el mundo.
