Naci\u00f3 en 1891 en una estrecha callejuela de la calle San Luis, Padilla, en el barrio sevillano de San Marcos, una de las zonas m\u00e1s flamencas de Sevilla, cercana al barrio de La Feria y, por tanto, a la Alameda de H\u00e9rcules. Cuando Vallejo naci\u00f3, cerca de su casa, en la calle Palomas, viv\u00edan <strong>Ram\u00f3n el Ollero, Paco el Sanluque\u00f1o<\/strong> y <strong>Antonio Frijones<\/strong>. La <strong>Ni\u00f1a de los Peines<\/strong> ten\u00eda solo dieciocho meses y resid\u00eda en la Puerta Osario, donde tres a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde nacer\u00eda su hermano <strong>Tom\u00e1s<\/strong>. Ya viv\u00eda en Sevilla, por la Alameda, <strong>don Antonio Chac\u00f3n<\/strong> y seis a\u00f1os antes, el padre de la <strong>Rubia de M\u00e1laga<\/strong> hab\u00eda matado al c\u00e9lebre <strong>Canario de \u00c1lora<\/strong> en la Never\u00eda de El Chino, que <strong>El Burrero<\/strong> utilizaba como caf\u00e9 de verano y que estuvo junto al puente de Triana. Andaban por la Alameda las bailaoras <strong>Juana la Macarrona, La Malena, Concha la Carbonera<\/strong>, las hermanas <strong>Ant\u00fanez<\/strong> y las <strong>Coquineras del Puerto<\/strong>. El cantaor <strong>Paco la Luz<\/strong> viv\u00eda tambi\u00e9n en esta popular calle junto a sus hijas, <strong>La Serrana<\/strong> y <strong>La Sordita<\/strong>, y en la calle Lumbreras, donde a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s nacer\u00eda Caracol, resid\u00edan los <strong>Triano de \u00c9cija<\/strong>, una familia de guitarristas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00abManuel Vallejo y la Ni\u00f1a de los Peines cantaban de una manera muy parecida, con sus matices: en la forma de cuadrar el cante, el aire, el comp\u00e1s, la musicalidad y la gracia\u00bb<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>O sea, que Vallejo vino a nacer en una zona y una \u00e9poca fundamentales del flamenco, por eso cantaba como cantaba y lleg\u00f3 a ser uno de los genios de su tiempo. Su cante sab\u00eda a Sevilla. <strong>Antonio Mairena<\/strong> sol\u00eda decir que la pureza era, entre otras cosas, el sabor al paisaje, y el cante de don Manuel sab\u00eda a esa zona de Sevilla y a esa \u00e9poca, como el de <strong>Manolito de Mar\u00eda<\/strong> sab\u00eda a Alcal\u00e1 de Guada\u00edra y el de <strong>Joselero<\/strong>\u00a0a Mor\u00f3n. Si se han fijado alguna vez, Vallejo y la Ni\u00f1a de los Peines cantaban de una manera muy parecida, con sus matices: en la forma de cuadrar el cante, el aire, el comp\u00e1s, la musicalidad y la gracia. Tambi\u00e9n el <strong>Ni\u00f1o Medina<\/strong>, algo mayor que ellos, pero poco. Medina lleg\u00f3 a la Alameda de H\u00e9rcules, siendo un ni\u00f1o prodigio del cante, cuando Vallejo y Pastora empezaban a dar sus primeros pasos. Crecieron en un mismo ambiente y aprendieron de unos mismos maestros, luego no pod\u00edan ser muy distintos. Cada uno ten\u00eda su sello, pero en lo esencial, en lo b\u00e1sico, eran tres int\u00e9rpretes de una misma escuela, la sevillana. No tardar\u00edan en llegar <strong>La Moreno<\/strong> y <strong>Manuel Torres<\/strong>, entre otros y otras, convirtiendo la Alameda en el centro flamenco del mundo, sin olvidar las influencias de Jerez, C\u00e1diz y M\u00e1laga.<\/p>\n<p>La escuela de Sevilla no se podr\u00eda entender sin estas tierras, aunque pocas veces se haya analizado este hecho. En el fandango, por ejemplo, estilo que revolucion\u00f3 Vallejo, tuvieron una enorme influencia en Sevilla los onubenses <strong>Pepe Rebollo<\/strong> y <strong>Antonio Rengel<\/strong>, que podemos comprobar escuchando a tres puntales sevillanos de este estilo, como fueron <strong>Pepe Pinto, El Carbonerillo<\/strong> y <strong>Manolo Caracol<\/strong>. Se uni\u00f3 a este tr\u00edo el <strong>Ni\u00f1o de Marchena<\/strong> y algo m\u00e1s tarde el <strong>Ni\u00f1o Gloria<\/strong> y <strong>El Sevillano<\/strong>, dos genios tambi\u00e9n. Vallejo, adem\u00e1s, se aficion\u00f3 a frecuentar Triana siendo muy joven, donde pudo alcanzar a <strong>Manuel Cagancho<\/strong>, que muri\u00f3 en 1913. \u00c9l y Tom\u00e1s Pav\u00f3n eran visitantes asiduos a esta casa cantaora, y aunque no se parec\u00edan mucho cantando, eran de una misma edad \u2013Tom\u00e1s dos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s joven\u2013 y vivieron tambi\u00e9n un mismo ambiente. Los dos hicieron los cantes de Triana por seguiriyas, por ejemplo.<\/p>\n<p>Si a la hora de analizar el legado de los cantaores tuvi\u00e9ramos en cuenta estas cuestiones, d\u00f3nde nacieron, por d\u00f3nde se movieron y qu\u00e9 influencias pudieron tener, llegar\u00edamos a conclusiones interesantes. Pero si lo que les gusta es solo disfrutar del cante, sin m\u00e1s, Manuel Vallejo nos dej\u00f3 una obra discogr\u00e1fica impresionante.
