Soy caracolero. S\u00ed, admirador de aquel genio que fue don <strong>Manuel Ortega Ju\u00e1rez<\/strong>, apodado <em>Caracol\u00a0<\/em>por su padre, el se\u00f1or don Manuel Ortega Fern\u00e1ndez, hijo de Jos\u00e9 el \u00c1guila y nieto, por tanto, de Enrique Ortega D\u00edaz <em>El Gordo<\/em>. Esto por l\u00ednea paterna. Por la materna tuvo un tatarabuelo que hizo historia, <strong>el Planeta<\/strong> de C\u00e1diz. Pero no adoro a Caracol por su linaje, sino por c\u00f3mo cantaba. Sencillamente por eso. Por lo mismo que adoro a <strong>Enrique Morente<\/strong> y no hab\u00eda una dinast\u00eda art\u00edstica familiar por detr\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando me preguntan la diferencia entre Caracol y <strong>Mairena<\/strong>, siempre respondo lo mismo: que Caracol naci\u00f3 con el don y Mairena, con la afici\u00f3n. El primero fue un genio y el otro, don Antonio, un cantaor que se hizo a base de a\u00f1os y que solo lleg\u00f3 a ser una primera figura cuando su amigo <strong>Ricardo Molina<\/strong> decidi\u00f3 darle la Llave del Cante porque s\u00ed, porque era su \u00edntimo amigo y, adem\u00e1s, le gustaba c\u00f3mo cantaba. Cre\u00f3 un concurso a su medida, puso un jurado de amiguetes y convirti\u00f3 a Mairena en el amo del cante en una \u00e9poca en la que unos se hab\u00edan muerto, como Tom\u00e1s y Vallejo, y otros andaban exprimiendo el don para seguir acumulando fortuna.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00abMe hace gracia cuando dicen que Caracol no tiene una buena obra discogr\u00e1fica, porque es desordenada. \u00bfDesde cu\u00e1ndo un artista debe tener una obra ordenada?\u00bb<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Caracol fue el genio y Mairena, el maestro enciclop\u00e9dico. El sevillano jam\u00e1s quiso ense\u00f1ar, solo cantaba como no ha cantado casi nadie. El de Mairena del Alcor se empe\u00f1\u00f3 en decirles a todos c\u00f3mo hab\u00eda que cantar y hasta en qui\u00e9n hab\u00eda que creer o no creer. \u00bfY por qu\u00e9 fue un genio Caracol? Es imposible explicar esto en un art\u00edculo. \u00bfHan escuchado c\u00f3mo cantaba ya con 21 a\u00f1os, cuando grab\u00f3 sus primeros discos de pizarra? \u00bfY han escuchado los primeros discos de Mairena? Eran de la misma edad y la diferencia era abismal en esos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Me hace mucha gracia cuando dicen que Caracol no tiene una buena obra discogr\u00e1fica, porque es desordenada. Y ponen como ejemplo de obra ordenada la de Antonio Mairena. \u00bfDesde cu\u00e1ndo un artista tiene que tener una obra ordenada? Y puestos a hablar de esto, \u00bfqu\u00e9 me dicen de obras como las de <strong>Manuel Vallejo<\/strong> y la <strong>Ni\u00f1a de los Peines<\/strong>, ahora que han sido reeditados sus cantes? \u00bfSon una buena antolog\u00eda de estilos o no? Habr\u00eda que reunir tambi\u00e9n en un estuche la de Manolo Caracol, que es la obra de un genio del cante, para los que dicen que era un cantaor genial, pero sin cabeza.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfQui\u00e9n piensa en el orden cuando escucha a Caracol? Yo no, desde luego. Ni siquiera cuando escucho a Mairena.
