La historia del flamenco no se podr\u00eda contar sin dedicarle uno de sus principales cap\u00edtulos a <strong>Manuel Ojeda Rodr\u00edguez, <em>El Burrero<\/em><\/strong>, pionero en la creaci\u00f3n de caf\u00e9s cantantes junto a <strong>Silverio Franconetti<\/strong>. Don Manuel tiene un libro y bien gordo, y habr\u00e1 que hacerlo alg\u00fan d\u00eda. Era macareno y fue desde muy joven un muchacho emprendedor. Al parecer, su negocio de leche de burra, siendo joven, sirvi\u00f3 para que le llamaran El Burrero.<\/p>\n<p>Aficionado a los cantes y bailes sevillanos, un d\u00eda se le ocurri\u00f3 abrir un local para ofrecer arte a los guiris, o sea, a los extranjeros, viendo que iban a las academias boleras a dejarse all\u00ed sus buenos cuartos para <strong>Miguel<\/strong> y <strong>Manuel de la Barrera<\/strong>, <strong>Botella<\/strong> y otros boleros de la ciudad de Sevilla. En la c\u00e9ntrica calle Tarifa, en plana Campana, exist\u00eda desde la d\u00e9cada de los cuarenta del XIX el <strong>Sal\u00f3n Recreo<\/strong>, regentado entonces por el bolero antequerano, aunque criado en Sevilla, don <strong>Miguel de la Barrera y Quintana<\/strong>, que no era hermano de Manuel de la Barrera y Valladares, como siempre se asegur\u00f3. Se refer\u00edan a \u201clos hermanos de la Barrera\u201d, porque Miguel tuvo un hermano tambi\u00e9n bolero, Cayetano.<\/p>\n<p>El Sal\u00f3n Recreo hac\u00eda esquina con la calle Amor de Dios y estaba en la primera planta de una enorme casa de la calle Tarifa. Era conocido por el <strong>Sal\u00f3n de la Escalerilla<\/strong> porque hab\u00eda que subir por una estrecha escalera de caracol, que el problema no estaba en subir sino en bajar. Si te pasabas con las ca\u00f1as de manzanilla, que era lo habitual, pod\u00edas acabar en la casa de socorro de la Alameda de H\u00e9rcules, como ocurri\u00f3 alguna vez. Por una ca\u00edda o por un navajazo, puesto que eran frecuentes las reyertas en el local por culpa del vino, los celos o las disputas art\u00edsticas.<\/p>\n<p>En ese local bailaron durante a\u00f1os todas las boleras y todos los boleros de Sevilla, que eran acompa\u00f1ados al cante por los mejores cantaores de la ciudad, entre ellos el mism\u00edsimo Silverio Franconetti, amigo de El Burrero. Cuando Silverio regresa de Sudam\u00e9rica, en 1864, se queda en C\u00e1diz pero viaja a Sevilla para trabajar en este local y en otros de la capital andaluza. No era todav\u00eda empresario pero ya le rondaba la idea en la cabeza de abrir su propio negocio. En 1865 act\u00faa en el Sal\u00f3n Recreo, como anuncia <em>El Porvenir\u00a0<\/em>el 25 de marzo de 1865. Lo hace con <strong>Jos\u00e9 Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez, <em>Juraco<\/em><\/strong>, el cantaor de Alcal\u00e1 de Guada\u00edra.<\/p>\n<p>Alterna estas actuaciones con viajes a Madrid, por ejemplo, al Sal\u00f3n de Capellanes, donde ya va como empresa. Ten\u00eda entonces 35 a\u00f1os y muchos deseos de ganar dinero, as\u00ed que empieza a preparar su desembarco como empresario. Y en 1868 se casa en M\u00e1laga con la se\u00f1orita linarense <strong>Ana Torrecilla<\/strong>. Es entonces cuando el cantaor decide asentarse ya en Sevilla, su tierra, y se afinca en la Alameda de H\u00e9rcules para estar cerca de la zona de los salones, academias y caf\u00e9s. Tiene dos domicilios, Alameda de H\u00e9rcules y Potro, porque era director de un caf\u00e9 cantante en la calle Amor de Dios, el que llamaban <strong>Caf\u00e9 de Silverio<\/strong>, sin ser suyo.<\/p>\n<p>En 1871 ya aparece como director del Sal\u00f3n Recreo, de la calle Tarifa, y es cuando comienza su relaci\u00f3n comercial con don Manuel el Burrero. Este local deja de ser un santuario de la escuela bolera para pasar a ser un caf\u00e9 de flamenco, que en seguida se hizo famoso como <strong>Caf\u00e9 del Burrero<\/strong>, en honor de su due\u00f1o. Silverio y \u00e9l eran dos grandes aficionados al cante, pero con gustos distintos. Franconetti era muy de la escuela gitana y enamorado de C\u00e1diz, Jerez y los Puertos. Y el Burrero era m\u00e1s partidario de los malague\u00f1eros, las malague\u00f1eras y las bailaoras estilizadas y elegantes. Tras unos a\u00f1os de \u00e9xito, deciden tirar cada uno por su camino y es cuando Silverio abre su propio caf\u00e9, el Sal\u00f3n Silverio, en el n\u00famero 4 de la c\u00e9ntrica calle Rosario, en 1881.<\/p>\n<p>Hasta 1888, el Burrero permanece en la calle Tarifa, pero le van tan mal las cosas, con la competencia del caf\u00e9 de su antiguo socio, el Filarm\u00f3nico y otros, que decide apostar fuerte y llevar su caf\u00e9 a la calle Sierpes, 11, la mejor calle de Sevilla. Estaba ya cansado del acoso y derribo de los gobernantes sevillanos, que no paraban desde la muerte de <strong>El Canario<\/strong> en su sucursal de verano del puente de Triana. No se le ocurre mejor idea que alquilar el local de lo que fue el <strong>Casino Militar<\/strong>, en 1888, para volver a convertir el Caf\u00e9 del Burrero en lo que hab\u00eda sido diez o doce a\u00f1os antes. Y a pesar del esc\u00e1ndalo, don Manuel triunf\u00f3 y su caf\u00e9 hizo historia en Sevilla.<\/p>\n<p>Poco le durar\u00eda la alegr\u00eda, porque una rotura de cadera, viviendo en la calle San Pablo (Reyes Cat\u00f3licos), le trajo una gangrena y muri\u00f3 empezando el siglo XX. Ah\u00ed acab\u00f3 la historia de su c\u00e9lebre caf\u00e9 cantante, el m\u00e1s famoso del flamenco, con el de Silverio y, algo m\u00e1s tarde, El Novedades.
