{"id":13159,"date":"2015-09-04T12:46:35","date_gmt":"2015-09-04T10:46:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=13159"},"modified":"2019-06-16T13:05:04","modified_gmt":"2019-06-16T11:05:04","slug":"honores-a-manuel-morao-en-mairena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/bordonazo\/honores-a-manuel-morao-en-mairena\/","title":{"rendered":"Honores a Manuel Morao en Mairena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>El veterano guitarrista jerezano <strong>Manuel Morao<\/strong> va a recibir un m\u00e1s que merecido homenaje ma\u00f1ana s\u00e1bado en el <strong>Festival de Cante Jondo Antonio Mairena<\/strong>, al que alguna vez acudi\u00f3 como artista. En esta ocasi\u00f3n lo har\u00e1 para recoger un premio a su carrera y, sobre todo, por ser un mairenista convencido e insobornable, defensor de los postulados de <strong>Antonio Mairena<\/strong> y atizador del que piense lo contrario. Como guitarrista, Manuel Morao no cruz\u00f3 nunca el umbral donde habitan las grandes estrellas, esto es, el de artistas como <strong>Ram\u00f3n Montoya, Ni\u00f1o Ricardo, Sabicas, Manolo Sanl\u00facar<\/strong> o <strong>Paco de Luc\u00eda<\/strong>, pero en la faceta de acompa\u00f1amiento alcanz\u00f3 pronto cierta notoriedad participando en grabaciones hist\u00f3ricas de grandes cantaores como, entre otros, <strong>Fernando Terremoto<\/strong>, y en compa\u00f1\u00edas de baile como la del gran <strong>Antonio Ruiz Soler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Manuel Morao ha sido siempre, desde que se hizo figura, el exponente del toque jerezano, escuela en la que tuvo mucho que ver <strong>Javier Molina Cundi<\/strong>. Escuchar tocar a Morao es como hacer un viaje en el tiempo, a aquellos patios de vecinos del Barrio de Santiago, siempre pre\u00f1ados de comp\u00e1s y de arte. Pero siendo una de las primeras guitarras de Espa\u00f1a, de las de m\u00e1s sabor y gitaner\u00eda, el maestro de la calle Nueva quiso ir m\u00e1s all\u00e1 en su carrera y fue tambi\u00e9n empresario, sacando a buenos artistas y dando a conocer en el mundo lo que a\u00fan no se conoc\u00eda de Jerez. Nunca fue un artista medi\u00e1tico, palabra muy de moda en la actualidad. Ni siquiera ha ca\u00eddo ni cae bien a todos, pero le nombras en cualquier tertulia flamenca y aparecen los escalofr\u00edos jondos como por arte de magia. Su complicidad con Antonio Mairena fue total. Morao fue quien introdujo al maestro de los Alcores en Jerez, como \u00e9l mismo confiesa en sus memorias \u2013<em>Sinelo calorr\u00f3<\/em>\u2013, editadas en noviembre del pasado a\u00f1o y escritas por <strong>Juan Manuel Su\u00e1rez Jap\u00f3n<\/strong>. Mairena encontr\u00f3 en el guitarrista de Santiago al compa\u00f1ero perfecto, un guitarrista gitano con claras convicciones gitanistas, como el propio Antonio. Y le ayud\u00f3 a conocer en profundidad el m\u00e1gico mundo cantaor de la ciudad gaditana, sin la que no se podr\u00eda entender el flamenco.<\/p>\n<p>Por tanto, es justo que Mairena del Alcor reconozca la labor de don Manuel Morao por el flamenco y, sobre todo, por la escuela mairenera, el mairenismo y la obra del maestro del cante gitano. Lo que resulta extra\u00f1o es que este reconocimiento haya llegado tan tarde, aunque nunca es tarde si la dicha es buena. Gracias a artistas como Manuel Morao, con el que no siempre he estado de acuerdo en sus opiniones sobre el origen del arte jondo, el flamenco no ha acabado por desaparecer entre las m\u00fasicas comerciales, y esto es siempre muy de agradecer. No ha sido muy galardonado este guitarrista, o no es de los m\u00e1s condecorados, pero seguro que este detalle del Festival de Mairena le ha hecho inmensamente feliz. Y los que vivimos en Mairena, como es mi propio caso, aunque no milite precisamente en el mairenismo, lo agradecemos inmensamente.
