Born and raised in Huelva, she moved to Seville when she was 15 years old to balance her studies with a more solid training in flamenco. She has been living in this city ever since, on Feria Street, between Macarena and Alameda de H\u00e9rcules.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s precisely this main road which, every Thursday since the 13<sup>th<\/sup> century, has been closed to traffic to become an open market of antiques, second-hand items and all types of knick-knacks. That\u2019s where Roc\u00edo browsed and rebrowsed until finding those slate records of <strong>Manuel Vallejo<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong> Antonio Chac\u00f3n<\/strong>, or the tapes of <strong>Pepe Marchena, Bambino<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Concha Piquer<\/strong>. One day, Roc\u00edo spread all these records and tapes on the rug of her house, and that\u2019s where the inspiration for this album came up.<\/p>\n<p>The guitar, absent form her last two albums, is now back. There\u2019s just voice, guitar and percussion. Yet, this is not a traditional album of <em>cante jondo<\/em>. This <em>cantaora<\/em> from Huelva continues treading the path started by her second album <em>El Ni\u00f1o<\/em>, released in 2014. She consolidates her very personal way of interpreting <em>cante<\/em>, aiming to blur the lines between <em>palos <\/em>and traditional flamenco styles. And seeking to erase the boundaries between <em>cante jondo<\/em>, folklore and <em>copla<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It has allusions and tributes to her musical references: <strong>Roc\u00edo Jurado, Paco Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez, El Cabrero, El Turronero<\/strong>. There are <em>cupl\u00e9s por buler\u00edas, serranas, malague\u00f1as, fandangos, peteneras <\/em>and<em> marianas<\/em>, among South American songs, rumbas and Spanish <em>copla<\/em>. In total, there are 14 tracks, plus one bonus track which includes the collaboration of <strong>Kiko Veneno<\/strong>, who performs with Roc\u00edo the celebrated <em>Andaluces de Ja\u00e9n\u00a0<\/em>by <strong>Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The promotional tour starts on March 28<sup>th<\/sup> in Seville, at the Maestranza theater.
