The daughter of the celebrated <strong>Enrique Morente\u00a0<\/strong>breaks her studio silence with an overwhelming album. Titled <strong><em>Copla<\/em><\/strong>, it is part of the project she had stared with her father, who passed away in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>For several years, flamenco lovers have waited for Estrella\u2019s comeback. Her successful album <strong><em>Encuentros<\/em><\/strong>, edited in collaboration with the Spanish pianist <strong>Javier Perianes<\/strong>, is now behind us. <em>Copla <\/em>is as explicit as it is emphatic. A musical torrent revealing the sweeping personality of this artist, it is a revolution in the landscape of traditional flamenco.<\/p>\n<p>Estrella Morente is a point of reference for the aficionados of this noble art, and also for the lovers of music in general. She is able to mix influences from her beloved Granada with the latest trends in flamenco\u2019s evolution.<\/p>\n<p>This new album bets on <em>copla<\/em>, a Spanish musical genre from the old days which reappears strongly in Morente\u2019s voice. It\u2019s a well-rounded discographic work, pure and orthodox, but including Estrella\u2019s unique and personal elements. It is a musical jewel, as can be attested by its first track, <em>Soledad<\/em>. Yet, there are plenty of reinterpreted classic songs, such as <em>Yo soy esa, Suspiros de Espa\u00f1a<\/em> or the mythical <em>\u00a1Ay pena, penita!<\/em> All done under the watchful eye of producer <strong>Isidro Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Copla<\/em> is also a tribute to the main singers of this genre, such as <strong>Lola Flores, Imperio Argentina <\/strong>and<strong> Juana Reina<\/strong>, among others. \u00abAll of them helped me to understand that <em>copla<\/em> is life itself\u00bb, explained Morente in an interview in <em>Eldiario.es<\/em>. \u00abMy music is increasingly less flag, country and anthem.
