{"id":9145,"date":"2019-02-22T05:03:09","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T04:03:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=9145"},"modified":"2019-02-22T19:43:27","modified_gmt":"2019-02-22T18:43:27","slug":"all-set-for-the-festival-de-jerez-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/en\/actualidad-en\/all-set-for-the-festival-de-jerez-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"All set for the Festival de Jerez 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong><em>Festival de Jerez<\/em><\/strong> opens its doors on Friday, February 22<sup>nd<\/sup> at 9 PM, in the mythical <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jerez.es\/webs_municipales\/villamarta\">Teatro Villamarta<\/a>, with the show <em>La calle de los sue\u00f1os<\/em> by <strong>Compa\u00f1\u00eda Joaqu\u00edn Grilo<\/strong>. Soon after, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gonzalezbyass.com\/\">Bodegas Gonz\u00e1lez Byass<\/a>, the <em>cantaora<\/em> <strong>Argentina<\/strong> will start the series <em>De la ra\u00edz <\/em>with a recital of <em>cante<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-eight shows are scheduled, plus another ten recitals which will take place in various <em>pe\u00f1as flamencas<\/em> in the city. This event will continue for sixteen days until Saturday, March 9<sup>th<\/sup>, when the <em>bailaor<\/em> <strong>Israel Galv\u00e1n<\/strong> will bring to the Villamarta theater his show <em>El amor brujo<\/em>, by <strong>Manuel de Falla<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In it\u2019s twenty-three editions since April 18<sup>th<\/sup>, 1997, when the <strong>Compa\u00f1\u00eda de Danza Andaluza<\/strong> got on the stage of that theater for the first time under the direction of <strong>Mar\u00eda Pag\u00e9s<\/strong>, the <em>Festival de Jerez<\/em> has become consolidated into an essential event in the world of <em>baile flamenco<\/em>. According to its own statement of principles, <em>baile<\/em> is the unifying thread of the 2019 edition, meaning both <em>baile flamenco<\/em> and <em>danza espa\u00f1ola<\/em>. Yet, that doesn\u2019t mean that other aspects of flamenco such as <em>cante<\/em> and guitar will be neglected<\/p>\n<p>According to its universal vocation, and during the week before the start of the Festival, the city of Jerez will host the 6<sup>th<\/sup> <em>Concurso de Baile Flamenco Puro de Tur\u00edn<\/em>, which will take place at Sala Compa\u00f1\u00eda. Its Gala Evening will be held on Saturday, February 23<sup>rd<\/sup> at 7 PM, as part of the <em>Festival de Jerez<\/em>. At the end of this event, the contest prizes will be awarded by the 2019 jury.<\/p>\n<p>The shows will be scattered among four public places or outstanding buildings, aiming to highlight Jerez as <em>city of flamenco<\/em>. Besides the above-mentioned Teatro Villamarta, other regular venues such as Sala Compa\u00f1\u00eda, Bodegas Gonz\u00e1lez Byass, Palacio Villavicencio and Sala Pa\u00fal will also host events. The <strong><em>Federaci\u00f3n Local de Pe\u00f1as Flamencas<\/em><\/strong> will also made available for the Festival ten of its most traditional <em>pe\u00f1as<\/em>, as part of the series <em>De Pe\u00f1a en Pe\u00f1a<\/em>, which has the goal of promoting the performances of young artists.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the shows, there are also many educational activities, supporting the creation and encounter with other art forms.
