The series <em><strong>Flamenco viene del Sur<\/strong><\/em> has become, through its own merits, one of the most important events in Spain featuring the three modalities of flamenco: <em>cante<\/em>, <em>baile<\/em> and <em>guitar<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This is an initiative of the Culture Council of the <em>Junta de Andaluc\u00eda<\/em>, started in the year 1996 and organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/cultura\/flamenco\/\"><strong>Instituto Andaluz del Flamenco<\/strong><\/a>. <em>Flamenco viene del Sur<\/em> takes place simultaneously in Granada and Seville, on a weekly basis, between February and May. In November the series moves to M\u00e1laga. In the current edition, 156 artists will take part in 25 shows.<\/p>\n<p>The starting gun was fired on February 11<sup>th<\/sup> at the <strong>Teatro Alhambra de Granada<\/strong>, with the show <em>En la memoria <\/em>featuring <strong>\u00c1ngeles Gabald\u00f3n, Gema Caballero<\/strong> and <strong>Marta Robles<\/strong>. The Granada series consists of eleven sessions and will conclude on May 13<sup>th<\/sup> with cantaora <strong>Roc\u00edo M\u00e1rquez<\/strong>. Tickets are 18 euros for general admission and 16 euros for students, pensioners, the unemployed and <em>Amigo<\/em> cardholders. A set of ten tickets is also available for 140 euros (maximum of two sets per show).<\/p>\n<p>In Seville the shows will take place at the <strong>Teatro Central<\/strong>. On February 12<sup>th<\/sup>, the series was started by <strong>Jos\u00e9 de la Tomasa<\/strong>, his nephew <strong>Gabriel de la Tomasa<\/strong> and his grandson <strong>Manuel de la Tomasa<\/strong>, with the recital of <em>cante jondo<\/em> titled <em>Genes-Trilog\u00eda<\/em>. There will be ten shows in total, concluding on May 14<sup>th<\/sup>, with the <em>Gala Ganadores Concurso Talento Flamenco<\/em>, in collaboration with the <strong>Fundaci\u00f3n Cristina Heeren<\/strong>. Tickets can be purchased for 20 euros, and sets of nine tickets are available for 144 euros.<\/p>\n<p>For the fourth consecutive year, the <strong>Teatro C\u00e1novas de M\u00e1laga<\/strong> will feature an educational series for children, teenagers and primary and secondary school teachers, with the noble goal of getting them to know the <em>arte jondo<\/em>. Four sessions are planned, although the programming hasn\u2019t been made public yet. Price: 5 euros.
