Jos\u00e9, son of the great\u00a0cante<\/i>\u00a0aficionado \u2018Mijita\u2019, born in La Plazuela district of Jerez, has already achieved a respectable position in contemporary flamenco with the release of his previous albums, ‘La Plazuela en estado puro<\/i>‘ (LB Flamenco, 2014) and ‘Se Llama Flamenco<\/i>‘ (Flamenco Vive, 2016), which was nominated for the\u00a0Grammy Latinos<\/i>, as well as other CDs, such as the one he shared with his family with the title: \u201cStirpe. De pare a hijos<\/i>\u201d (LB Flamenco, 2015), where he collaborated with Miguel Poveda.<\/p>\n
Mijita has taken part in important lineups of flamenco summer festivals this year, such as the\u00a0Festival de Las Nieves de Arcos de la Frontera<\/i>,\u00a0Viernes Flamencos de Jerez<\/i>\u00a0or the\u00a0La Mina<\/i>\u00a0festival in Barcelona. In these last few months of autumn, he has performed in\u00a0pe\u00f1as<\/i>\u00a0such as\u00a0Terremoto<\/i>, in his hometown, or\u00a0La Plater\u00eda<\/i>, in Granada, and he also performed in the renowned\u00a0Festival Caja Mediterr\u00e1neo<\/i>\u00a0in Alicante.<\/p>\n
Before the Christmas celebrations, he wanted to record a live album to warm up for the year 2019 and assert once more his credentials as\u00a0cantaor<\/i>. He himself is producing this album, covering all the expenses of this project, reinforcing his commitment to continue performing and growing in his artistic career. The recording took place at El Majuelo vineyard, belonging to the Fundador winery, in Jerez\u2019s countryside. It was attended by personalities of the flamenco world, representatives of\u00a0pe\u00f1as<\/i>, family members of the\u00a0cantaor<\/i>, local authorities, the press and some of his colleagues. There were no more than forty people in this enviable setting, with a secluded atmosphere inviting relaxed enjoyment.<\/p>\n
There, after savoring tapas, cured meat, tortillas, pork rind and the wine of this blessed winery which has been by Mijita\u2019s side from his early days, we proceeded to the vineyard\u2019s\u00a0tabanco<\/i>. This happened on December 12, at noon, and the\u00a0cantaor<\/i>\u00a0started\u00a0por martinetes<\/i>\u00a0and also\u00a0sole\u00e1 por buler\u00edas<\/i>, daring to sing\u00a0malague\u00f1as<\/i>\u00a0and closing the first part\u00a0por buler\u00edas<\/i>\u00a0penned by Pepe del Morao, one of the guitarists of this album. The other guitarist elected to contribute his sound was Domingo Rubichi, who accompanied Mijita in the\u00a0malague\u00f1a<\/i>\u00a0and in the final\u00a0buler\u00edas<\/i>, where Mijita evoked his ancestors and creators from the Chalao, Rubichi and Agujetas families. Pepe accompanied Jos\u00e9 in the\u00a0fandangos<\/i>,\u00a0tientos y tangos<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0seguiriya<\/i>. The vast majority of the lyrics are original, thanks to the contributions of Jos\u00e9 Gallardo, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Casta\u00f1o and Pepe himself, grandson of de Manuel Morao.<\/p>\n
Palmas where by Jos\u00e9 Rubichi, Carlos Grilo and Diego Montoya, and the\u00a0jaleos<\/i>\u00a0where by the invited artists themselves: Luis Moneo, Rancapino Chico, Vicente Soto, Alfonso Carpio ‘Mijita’ (Jos\u00e9\u2019s brother), Miguel Soto ‘El Londro’… and a few others from the flamenco world. The date of release hasn\u2019t been set yet, as post-production and the promotional demo hasn\u2019t been finalized, although Jos\u00e9 stated that \u201cthe intention is leaving it just as it was recorded, mistakes and all, capturing the atmosphere of friendship that we created\u201d.
