As I knew he was concerned about the\u00a0<i>soleares de Alcal\u00e1<\/i>Because I thought they were losing their purity and lacked good performers, I composed this one:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>The cante por sole\u00e1<br \/>\nlive pure among the winds<br \/>\nand when going through Alcal\u00e1<br \/>\nhe dies of feeling.\u00a0<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I gave it to him scribbled in a piece of paper. I read it a couple of times and, to my surprise, I have kept the rhythm hitting the table in his studio with his knuckles, where we were having coffee kindly served by his sister Rosario. When I finished doing it, I asked if I used it and I told him that I did. &#8220;It&#8217;s the proper measures, I can tell it is written by a\u00a0<i>cantaor\u00a0<\/i>&#8220;, He told me. I have kept the piece of paper to perform it somewhere else, I have told me, but I never heard him sing it. I have passed away five years later, and I suppose that this\u00a0<i>sole\u00e1\u00a0<\/i>is still among his documents.<\/p>\n<p>Child of Fregenal also sang a\u00a0<i>Fandango\u00a0<\/i>I wrote for him, although at the time his voice was already very worn out.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>With caramel flavor,<br \/>\nThey are his cinnamon kisses.<br \/>\nWith caramel flavor.<br \/>\nSevilla knows it all,<br \/>\nthat like me the bluff<br \/>\nYou will not find who wants it.\u00a0<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I told him that I had written it in the style of El Peluso and I retorted: &#8220;I do not sing in the style of anyone&#8221;. Then, in a faint voice, he sang the\u00a0<i>Fandango\u00a0<\/i>in his own style, in a whisper, before\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/single-post\/2016\/03\/01\/%C2%BFSe-acuerdan-de-Antonio-El-Sevillano\">Antonio El Sevillano\u00a0<\/a>and the guitarist Antonio Sanl\u00facar. Antonio was a great lyricist, particularly of\u00a0<i>fandangos\u00a0<\/i>, and I remember that I mentioned: &#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.expoflamenco.net\/#!Recordando-a-El-Carbonerillo\/c112t\/56b81aa40cf2dc1600e907a6\">The Carbonero\u00a0<\/a>I would have sung these lyrics, I was always in love. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If I were asked which\u00a0<i>cantaor\u00a0<\/i>, of any era in flamenco I would have written to\u00a0<i>Fandango\u00a0<\/i>for, I would reply, without thinking it twice, that would be for Manuel Vega\u00a0<i>The Carbonero\u00a0<\/i>, who is one of my favorite\u00a0<i>cantaores<\/i>. I think I&#8217;d write him this\u00a0<i>Fandango\u00a0<\/i>I composed many years ago:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>An eraser<br \/>\nto erase memories.<br \/>\nAn eraser.<br \/>\nMemories and kisses<br \/>\nthey no longer serve you<br \/>\nto a half dead heart.\u00a0<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Este\u00a0<i>cantaor\u00a0<\/i>from Seville sang about heartbreak like no other. When he was a teenager, he had a girlfriend in La Macarena district, who left him. I have suffered so much for this breakup that he sang dozens of<i>fandangos\u00a0<\/i>about it I like all of his lyrics (penned by him or not) but this is the one which moves me the most:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>Like the marble I stayed<br \/>\nI found out you were getting married.<br \/>\nLike marble, I stayed.<br \/>\nI ask God to cry<br \/>\nthat you marry and go well<br \/>\nalthough I die raging.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Like marble stone I felt<br \/>\nI heard you were getting married<br \/>\nLike marble stone I felt<br \/>\nI ask God, crying<br \/>\nThat you have a happy marriage<br \/>\nEven if I die in sorrow.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There are no\u00a0<i>cantaores\u00a0<\/i>dying of heartbreak in a\u00a0<i>Fandango\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0 anymore<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Translated by P.
