The event was attended by the the Institute\u2019s director, <strong>Crist\u00f3bal Ortega<\/strong>, journalist <strong>Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Andrade<\/strong>, guitarist and head of Air Music record label, <strong>Alberto L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, and guitarist and producer <strong>Miguel \u00c1ngel Cort\u00e9s<\/strong>. Even <strong>Curro Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, the singer\u2019s father, wanted to publicly thank his daughter for featuring his vocals on the album, despite his retirement from the stage over ten years ago. These moments can be seen in the video below.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Esperanza Fern\u00e1ndez, who is heiress to a famous dynasty of<em> jondo<\/em> art, is often noted for her versatility, having participated in such varied musical projects: from flamenco duos to jazz, big band and even chamber and symphony orchestras. She has performed pieces like <em>La Vida Breve, El Amor Brujo, Siete Canciones Espa\u00f1olas<\/em> and a reworked version of the opera <em>Margot<\/em> by Joaqu\u00edn Turina. She has performed all over the world \u2013 New York, Paris, Brussels, Jerusalem, Lisbon, Rome, Brazil, Cologne \u2013 including the Russian capital, where she told us that she had sung to a packed theatre at the end of November.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Esperanza Fern\u00e1ndez - Presentaci\u00f3n del \u00e1lbum &#039;Se proh\u00edbe el cante&#039; - Instituto Andaluz del Flamenco\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q9TJ48_y38s?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first single of the disc <em>Se proh\u00edbe el cante<\/em> is a set of tangos which <strong>Miguel Poveda<\/strong> collaborated on and are reminiscent of the <em>Malague\u00f1a<\/em> <strong>Repompa<\/strong> and <strong>la Ni\u00f1a de los Peines<\/strong>. It is a tribute to two great female references in the world of flamenco and to their popular lyrics. Other collaborating artists on Esperanza\u2019s album are <strong>Tomatito, Marina Heredia, Roc\u00edo M\u00e1rquez<\/strong> and<strong> Arc\u00e1ngel<\/strong>. The title makes reference to a sad poster which could be seen in many Andalusian bars throughout much of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century. You can listen to some clips on the podcast which our colleague <strong>Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda C<\/strong>asta\u00f1o recently on this very website.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the album sleeve, writer <strong>Juan Jos\u00e9 T\u00e9llez<\/strong> reflects that \u201cher discography has been measured and cooked on a low flame, with the patience of one who braids a wicker basket or taps their hammer on the anvil. She is well aware that singing is not just a profession or vocation, but also a responsibility to those who sang or were not allowed to sing before her\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the gospel of Esperanza Fern\u00e1ndez,\u201d continues T\u00e9llez \u201csinging also means teaching those who come after you and being grateful for the example of those that came before you. Now Esperanza, once more, is producing legendary work. So take a seat, try the wine but don\u2019t make a noise with the glasses. And let\u2019s listen\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Se proh\u00edbe el cante <\/em>has also been reflected in an audiovisual production on show at <a href=\"http:\/\/festivalcinesevilla.eu\/peliculas\/se-prohibe-el-cante\">Seville\u2019s Cinema Festival<\/a>. A journey through Andalusia with the purpose of recovering the memory of flamenco <em>pe\u00f1as<\/em>.
