The event will take place on 18<sup>th<\/sup> November 2021 in the <strong>MGM Grand Garden Arena<\/strong> in Las Vegas, United States. Best Flamenco Music Album is the 34<sup>th<\/sup> award category, within the ninth division (Traditional Music).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The category is set aside for vocal or instrumental albums whose total running time is made up of 51% or more new flamenco music material. This year the nominees are: Rafael Riqueni for <em>Herencia<\/em>; Pepe de Lucia for <em>Un Nuevo Universo<\/em>; Paco Candela por <em>Alma de Pura Raza<\/em>; Mar\u00eda Toledo for <em>El Rey<\/em> and Israel Fern\u00e1ndez and Diego del Morao for <em>Amor<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Herencia<\/em>, Rafael Riqueni<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After his successful record Parque de Mar\u00eda Luisa, the Sevilian composer and guitarist Rafael Riqueni has surprised us once again with a highly artistic composition full of nuances. With <em>Herencia<\/em> (Universal Music, 2021), the singer from <em>Calle Fabi\u00e9<\/em> makes a move towards the more traditional flamenco concert guitar. Our colleague <strong>Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Casta\u00f1o<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/podcast\/herencia-el-nuevo-disco-del-guitarrista-rafael-riqueni-entrevista\">interviewed<\/a> him for the <em>Caminos<\/em> series of the <em>Expoflamenco<\/em> podcast.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Un Nuevo Universo<\/em>, Pepe de Luc\u00eda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pepe de Luc\u00eda brings his new album <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/actualidad\/un-nuevo-universo-nuevo-album-de-pepe-de-lucia\"><em>Un Nuevo Universo<\/em><\/a> to the Latin Grammys accompanied by the music video of his single <em>Porque la vida me da<\/em>. The singer and composer from Cadiz wanted to transmit his DNA through his work. And he makes us all heirs to a public fortune: his wisdom, his boldness and instinct, and his wild, unbridled attitude. Throughout decades, Pepe de Luc\u00eda has emerged as one of the fundamental <em>cantaores <\/em>and composers in the creative sphere, and likewise in <em>el cante<\/em>, where tradition rules.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Alma de Pura Raza<\/em>, Paco Candela<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After 11 studio albums, the Sevilian <a href=\"https:\/\/pacocandelaoficial.com\/\">Paco Candela<\/a> (Mairena del Alarafe, 1971) is embarking on a new career with his own record label, Candelarte Records, to present <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/actualidad\/el-mairenero-paco-candela-es-un-alma-de-pura-raza\"><strong><em>Alma de pura raza<\/em><\/strong><\/a> at the Latin Grammys, a record which leaves nobody indifferent with its <em>sevillanas, tangos, fandangos<\/em> and flamenco rhythms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Amor<\/em>, Israel Fern\u00e1ndez and Diego del Morao<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/actualidad\/amor-el-nuevo-album-de-israel-fernandez-y-diego-del-morao\"><em>Amor<\/em><\/a> Israel Fern\u00e1ndez doesn\u2019t recreate any particular work. He draws upon different sources of inspiration, navigating what best defines his deepest flamenco. He also weaves themes with his own lyrics, without forgetting a wide knowledge of the repertoire. As if that wasn\u2019t impressive enough on its own, to top it off there\u2019s Diego del Morao with his inseparable guitar. The fusion of two styles on the guitar chords. The legacy of <em>el toque<\/em> and a contemporary flavour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>El Rey<\/em>, Mar\u00eda Toledo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The final nominee is the <em>cantaora<\/em> and pianist Mar\u00eda Toledo, who has been nominated on four previous occasions for these awards. The artist has always considered herself a <em>cantaora<\/em>, which she told us in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/entrevistas\/maria-toledo-corazonada-he-sido-soy-y-sere-siempre-cantaora\">an Expoflamenco interview<\/a>, despite taking to the flamenco stage alongside her piano sometimes. In <em>El Rey<\/em>, the musician pays homage to the well-known Mexican composer Jos\u00e9 Alfredo Jim\u00e9nez, mixing Mexican music and culture with the <em>jondo<\/em> art.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These five artists will fight to take over the title from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/internacional\/antonio-rey-se-hace-con-el-grammy-mas-flamenco\">Antonio Rey<\/a>, the guitarist who took home the coveted award in 2020 for his record <em>Flamenco sin fronteras<\/em>.
