The 2<sup>nd<\/sup> of July marks the twenty-ninth anniversary of the untimely death of this virtuoso from San Fernando, <strong>Camar\u00f3n de la Isla<\/strong>. It is a day that will be celebrated in style, as this date has been chosen for the opening of the Interpretation Centre that bears his name.<\/p>\n<p>This unusual museum tells the story of the life and work of the voice that revolutionised flamenco music. The challenge was taken on by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanfernando.es\/ayto\/\">San Fernando Town Hall<\/a> after erecting a building of 1,200 square metres &#8211; divided into two floors &#8211; next to the also legendary <a href=\"https:\/\/ventadevargas.es\/\">Venta de Vargas<\/a>. The museum will be open to the public free of charge from the 6<sup>th<\/sup> of July, but through advanced booking only.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal was drawn up by <strong>Reina de Corazones <\/strong>and <strong>Womack<\/strong>, museological and museographic projects, respectively. Visitors will find themselves in a space that breaks from the traditional format and instead uses modern technology and audiovisual material, with an emphasis on large screens and first-hand testimonies. A whole universe of Camar\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00abThe Camar\u00f3n Museum opens its doors in San Fernando on the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> of July 2021, coinciding with the 29th anniversary of the death of Jos\u00e9 Monge Cruz\u00bb<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The area and the content of the exhibition are divided into three spaces entitled <em>Origen<\/em> (Origin),<em> Leyenda<\/em> (Legend) and <em>Revoluci\u00f3n <\/em>(Revolution), creating a pathway through Camar\u00f3n\u2019s entire career, from his early years in his native San Fernando to his performances in the <em>tablaos<\/em> of Madrid as a duo with <strong>Paco de Luc\u00eda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This journey also explores the more personal side of the artist\u2019s life, with photos and family mementos, as well as personal belongings, clothes and even handwritten notes. <strong><em>Origen<\/em><\/strong> tells the story of the flamenco singer\u2019s childhood and early life. In this section there is a space reserved for roundtable discussions, conferences or presentations, activities linked to Camar\u00f3n and flamenco.<\/p>\n<p>On the first floor awaits <em>Leyenda<\/em> and <em>Revoluci\u00f3n<\/em>. Giant screens bring the flamenco star back to life. <strong><em>Leyenda<\/em><\/strong> shows the legacy of Jos\u00e9 Monge Cruz, with all his awards and recognitions. In <strong><em>Revoluci\u00f3<\/em><\/strong><em>n<\/em>, visitors can enjoy his work at length.<\/p>\n<p>As a slight novelty, the museum features a set for anyone who wishes to take a photographic souvenir with Camar\u00f3n himself. The rooftop terrace of the building has also been adapted to host live performances. What\u2019s more, as a treat for children, there is a play area called<em> <strong>El Peque\u00f1o Camar\u00f3n<\/strong><\/em>, where workshops will be held.<\/p>\n<p>Work on the museum &#8211; at a cost of around four million euros &#8211; began in January 2019, when the first stone of the complex was laid.
