{"id":18805,"date":"2020-03-19T19:10:55","date_gmt":"2020-03-19T18:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=18805"},"modified":"2020-03-19T19:12:36","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T18:12:36","slug":"manuel-linans-viva-awarded-festival-de-jerezs-critics-prize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/en\/actualidad-en\/manuel-linans-viva-awarded-festival-de-jerezs-critics-prize\/","title":{"rendered":"Manuel Li\u00f1\u00e1n\u2019s \u2018\u00a1Viva!\u2019 awarded Festival de Jerez\u2019s Critics\u2019 Prize."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>21<sup>st<\/sup> Critics\u2019 Prize<\/strong>, part of the 24<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FestivalDeJerez\/\">Festival de Jerez<\/a><\/em>, has been awarded to <strong>Manuel Li\u00f1\u00e1n\u00a0<\/strong>for his show <em>\u00a1Viva!<\/em><strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0performed on February 28<sup>th<\/sup>, 2020 at the Villamarta Theater. This prize, which has been jointly organized by the <strong>Chair of Flamencology and Folkloric Studies of Jerez<\/strong> and the <strong>Regulatory Council of Jerez Wine<\/strong> since 1999, has been awarded by the voting of critics and journalists accredited by the <em>Festival de Jerez<\/em> who evaluated the various productions performed at the Villamarta Theater.<\/p>\n<p>In this edition, a total of fourteen votes were casted. Five were awarded to Manuel Li\u00f1\u00e1n\u2019s\u00a0<em>\u00a1Viva!, <\/em>four to <strong>Marco Flores<\/strong>\u2018s <em>Rayuela<\/em>, three to <strong>Ballet Nacional de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>\u2018s <em>Invocaci\u00f3n<\/em>, and one each for <strong>Antonio Fern\u00e1ndez El Farru<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Por un sue\u00f1o<\/em> and\u00a0<strong>Mar\u00eda Moreno<\/strong>\u2019s <em>De la Concepci\u00f3n<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>According to its dossier, <em>\u00a1Viva!<\/em>\u00a0is a show conceived as \u201ca song for the freedom of movement, where the feminine is embraced as its own by the masculine body, where the patterns of gender in a rigidly codified world as flamenco are broken with joy and pleasure, creating new spaces which, although unexplored, seem close to us\u2026\u201d. \u201cIt\u2019s our identity, our way to approach a different aesthetic. It\u2019s a personal proposition by each of us\u201d, stated Manuel Li\u00f1\u00e1n on the day he presented his production at the San Gin\u00e9s Cellar.<\/p>\n<p>Besides Manuel Li\u00f1\u00e1n, <em>bailaores<\/em> <strong>Miguel \u00c1ngel Heredia, Manuel Betanzos, Jonathan Mir\u00f3, Hugo L\u00f3pez, V\u00edctor Mart\u00edn<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Daniel Ramos <\/strong>also performed in this show.
