The 19th<\/sup> edition of the festival Pasi\u00f3n por el Flamenco<\/em><\/strong> is taking place between March 7th<\/sup> and November 20th<\/sup>, 2020. This event, organized by the Badajoz Council<\/a>\u00a0in collaboration with the Federaci\u00f3n Extreme\u00f1a de Pe\u00f1as Flamencas<\/em><\/strong>, consists of a series of free recitals aiming to showcase the virtues of arte flamenco <\/em>among the public, particularly the younger generations.<\/p>\n

The current edition is taking place in fifteen different municipalities: Castuera, Bienvenida, La Garrovilla, Casas de Don Pedro, Cabeza la Vaca, La Albuera, Almendralejo, Llerena, Monesterio, Fuente de Cantos, Quintada de la Serena, Don Benito, Campanario and Badajoz.<\/p>\n

The artists Ismael Solomando, Mat\u00edas de Paula, Pedro Cintas, Manuel Pajares, Celia Romero, Miguel de Tena, Juanfran Carrasco, Edu Hidalgo, Ka\u00edta<\/strong>\u00a0and Alejandro Vega, Fuensanta Blanco, El Perrete, Jos\u00e9 Moreno Cano, Carmen La Parre\u00f1a, Vicky Gonz\u00e1lez <\/strong>and\u00a0Nane Ramos<\/strong> will take part in this musical series. The first recital was performed by cantaora<\/em>\u00a0Esther Merino<\/strong> on Saturday, March 7th<\/sup> in Olivia de la Frontera. Some of the artists have performed in previous editions, but there are new faces too. The artists are selected by the pe\u00f1as<\/em> themselves together with the Federation, which represents thirty-two pe\u00f1as<\/em> and flamenco associations all over Extremadura.<\/p>\n

\u00abThe priority for next year is to feature more new artists\u00bb, explained Sergio Garc\u00eda<\/strong>, representative of the company that coordinates this series, in the press conference presenting this event.<\/p>\n

\u00abOur artists are as good as any artist from Andalusia, and this project helps to promote our pe\u00f1as<\/em>\u00bb, stated Jos\u00e9 Merino<\/strong>, president of the Federaci\u00f3n Extreme\u00f1a de Pe\u00f1as Flamencas<\/em>. The guitarist Joaqu\u00edn Mu\u00f1ino<\/strong>\u00a0and Esther Merino agreed, explaining that this program would help to promote the work of the pe\u00f1as flamencas<\/em>, which are currently experiencing difficult times. Besides, admittance to the shows is free and this helps to popularize flamenco among the public.<\/p>\n
