{"id":18562,"date":"2020-03-06T01:28:45","date_gmt":"2020-03-06T00:28:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=18562"},"modified":"2020-03-06T01:36:01","modified_gmt":"2020-03-06T00:36:01","slug":"baile-falls-into-existential-emptiness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/en\/chronicles\/baile-falls-into-existential-emptiness\/","title":{"rendered":"Baile falls into existential emptiness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>However, if there was anything worth highlighting halfway through this Festival, it was a Saturday program called <strong><em>La Fiesta<\/em><\/strong>, a veritable flamenco marathon at the <em>Claustros de Santo Domingo,<\/em> a new venue which hasn\u2019t been as well-received as it was hoped for, due to the difficulty trying to visualize the different performances that took place since noon, when <strong>Juana la del Pipa<\/strong>\u00a0sang, accompanied by the guitar of <strong>Diego del Morao<\/strong>, under the direction of <strong>Luis de Periqu\u00edn<\/strong>, until 1 AM, when <strong>Diego Carrasco<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Tomasito<\/strong>\u00a0closed the evening <em>por buler\u00edas<\/em>, directed by <strong>Pepe del Morao<\/strong>. Meanwhile, the venue was visited by <strong>Saray Garc\u00eda<\/strong>, <em>bailaora<\/em> from Jerez who has become a true revelation for many people due to her clear, straightforward and very <em>flamenco<\/em> discourse. We also heard the echoes of <strong>Luis Moneo<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jos\u00e9 M\u00e9ndez<\/strong> upholding their Plazuela heritage. Later came the guitars of <strong>Nono Jero<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Manuel Jero<\/strong>, vindicating the Jerez school of rhythmic <em>toque<\/em>, joined by <strong>Juan Villar<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Anabel Valencia<\/strong>. At 7 PM was the actual <em>Fiesta<\/em>, with <strong>Paco Vega, Jos\u00e9 L\u00e9rida, Pepe Torres, Mari Viz\u00e1rraga<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Manuela R\u00edos<\/strong>, among others. It was a great showcase of the most authentic flamenco and a very worthwhile event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Andr&amp;eacute;s Pe&amp;ntilde;a y Pilar Ogalla, baile de sal&amp;oacute;n\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/394899825?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As we\u2019ve said before, the <strong>Villamarta<\/strong>\u00a0theater has hosted the greatest stars of <em>baile<\/em>. In <em>C\u00e1diz-Jerez<\/em>, the highlights were the voice of <strong>Felipa del Moreno<\/strong>, the versatility and volcanic performance of <strong>Edu Guerrero<\/strong>, the overflowing and elegant fragrance of <strong>Mar\u00eda Moreno<\/strong>\u00a0and the exquisite maturity of <strong>Mercedes Ruiz<\/strong>. At the end, the mythical <em>bailaora<\/em> <strong>La Chana<\/strong> appeared on the stage, giving us a masterclass of control and wisdom even before she got up from her chair. <em>Por cuatro reales<\/em>\u00a0was the new production by <strong>Andr\u00e9s Pe\u00f1a\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Pilar Ogalla<\/strong>, a well-seasoned couple who stick to the careful and traditional discourse of <em>baile flamenco<\/em>. It\u2019s true that it took a while for the show to reach the expected climax, but it wasn\u2019t easy after one of the <em>cantaores<\/em> had to be substituted at the last minute \u2014 hours before the curtains were raised \u2014 by <strong>David Carpio<\/strong>, and excellent choice that fully matched <strong>Londro<\/strong>\u2018s wonderful singing. In this gala, we thoroughly enjoyed the guitars of <strong>Rafael Rodr\u00edguez, Miguel P\u00e9rez, Pascual de Lorca<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jes\u00fas Guerrero<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mercedes de C&amp;oacute;rdoba, un ser en contin&amp;uacute;a transformaci&amp;oacute;n\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/395130708?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mercedes de C\u00f3rdoba<\/strong>\u00a0came with \u2018<em>Ser. Ni conmigo ni sin m\u00ed<\/em>\u2018, an introspective exploration of the doubts of the present. In this production, we particularly enjoyed the end, with a majestic <em>sole\u00e1<\/em> performed in one of the defining moments of the show. This production had a first-class lineup, making it even more enjoyable, particularly the performances of <strong>Enrique El Extreme\u00f1o<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Juan Campallo<\/strong>. This was the first time Mercedes performed as a solo artist in Jerez and she made good use of this opportunity. The saqme goes for <strong>La Lupi<\/strong>, with\u00a0<em>Lenguaje oculto<\/em>, approached from the intimate and reflexive optic of the being. The fears, the ups and downs of life, art\u2019s double standards, the possible and the impossible. <strong>Alfredo Tejada<\/strong>\u2018s cante was the best thing of the evening. Yet, we have to admit that the last couple of days at the Villamarta theatre have not been particularly outstanding.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"El universo paralelo de La Lupi\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/395398266?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Outside of the main events, we must highlight <strong>Hiniesta Cort\u00e9s<\/strong>, <em>bailaora<\/em> from Seville, and her show <em>Mi sentir<\/em>, where she shows her true self, seeking to enjoy and delight the audience with her Sevillian <em>baile<\/em>, having a lot of character and devoid of any drama.
