{"id":16252,"date":"2019-11-09T00:45:14","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T23:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=16252"},"modified":"2019-11-09T00:48:39","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T23:48:39","slug":"flamenco-in-the-costa-del-sol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/en\/actualidad-en\/flamenco-in-the-costa-del-sol\/","title":{"rendered":"Flamenco in the Costa del Sol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the echoes of the last <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.malagaenflamenco.com\/bienal2019\/home.asp\">Bienal de Arte Flamenco de M\u00e1laga<\/a><\/em> still reverberate, flamenco aficionados will be able to enjoy yet another important event showcasing <em>arte jondo<\/em> in M\u00e1laga\u2019s Costa del Sol: the <strong>8<sup>th<\/sup> Flamenco Week of Benalm\u00e1dena<\/strong>, which will take place between November 15<sup>th<\/sup> and November 22<sup>nd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>This event has been held in this city in the province of M\u00e1laga since 2011. It\u2019s organized by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pflamenca.benalmadena\">Pe\u00f1a Flamenca La Repompa de M\u00e1laga<\/a><\/em>, with the collaboration of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benalmadena.es\/contenido.php?m=cultura&amp;s=principal\">Culture Delegation of Benalm\u00e1dena\u2019s City Council<\/a>. Its creation was inspired by the official designation of flamenco as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in November 2010. Thus, the Flamenco Week was added to the other existing flamenco events in that municipality, the better-known of them being the <strong><em>Festival de Arte Flamenco de Benalm\u00e1dena<\/em><\/strong>, which has been taking place for thirty-eight years.<\/p>\n<p>The poster and lineup of the Flamenco Week was presented on October 18<sup>th<\/sup> at the Culture House in Arroyo de la Miel, a town belonging to the Benalm\u00e1dena municipality. On that occasion, Amparo Heredia Reyes\u00a0<strong>La Repompilla<\/strong>, joined by the guitar of Luis el Salao, performed to great acclaim. Amparo is the daughter of <em>cantaora<\/em> Rafaela Reyes La Repompilla and niece of the famous Enriqueta Reyes La Repompa, after whom the <em>pe\u00f1a<\/em> organizing this event is named.<\/p>\n<p>The events programmed for the 8<sup>th<\/sup> Flamenco Week of Benalm\u00e1dena include recitals of <em>cante<\/em> and guitar, featuring renowned artists such as <strong>Manuel de la Tomasa<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Luisa Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Isabel Guerrero Alarc\u00f3n<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Paqui R\u00edos<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Miguel \u00c1ngel Cort\u00e9s<\/strong>; a recital of poems by the poet <strong>Manuel Alc\u00e1ntara<\/strong>, from M\u00e1laga, dedicated to the present edition of the Flamenco Week; the screening of the documentary <strong><em>Alal\u00e1 (Alegr\u00eda)<\/em><\/strong>, by\u00a0<strong>Remedios Malv\u00e1rez<\/strong>; and the performance of the show <strong><em>El canario m\u00e1s sonoro (Semblanza de Juan Breva)<\/em><\/strong>, directed by <strong>Salvador Pend\u00f3n<\/strong>. These events will take place in five different venues: the Culture House in Arroyo de la Miel, the El-Bil-Bil Castle, The Bullfighting Museum Cultural Center and <em>Pe\u00f1a Rociera Benalm\u00e1dena<\/em>.
