This is the third edition of the <a href=\"http:\/\/flamenco.cajamediterraneo.es\/\">Festival Flamenco Mediterr\u00e1neo<\/a>, what attest to the fact that this is a well-thought event, based on the diversity of shows and the creation of a solid program featuring the concerts themselves, screenings, conferences, photographic expositions and the International Photography Contest. Under the direction and organization of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cajamediterraneo.es\/\"><em>Fundaci\u00f3n Caja Mediterr\u00e1neo<\/em><\/a>, the cornerstone of the program are the four concerts of <em>cante<\/em>, <em>baile<\/em> and <em>toque<\/em> that are planned for this occasion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tomasa Guerrero \u2018La Macanita\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0is the one in charge of opening this festival on November 8<sup>th<\/sup>, with her show <em><strong>Jerez por bandera<\/strong><\/em><em>,<\/em>\u00a0showcasing her own <em>cante<\/em> and joined by the guitar of <strong>Manuel Valencia<\/strong>, the <em>palmas<\/em> of Chicharito, Manuel Macano and Manuel Cantarote, and also featuring the <em>baile <\/em>of <strong>Sarai Garc\u00eda<\/strong>\u00a0and the voice of <strong>Ana de los Reyes<\/strong>, both also from Jerez.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00abLa Macanita has a very special, unique and even enviable Gypsy voice, evoking a bygone era and a generation that has practically vanished<\/em>\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>La Macanita is considered one of the leading voices of today\u2019s flamenco. Her roots, career, discography and awards give credence to this statement, shared among so many aficionados of this art genre. This <em>cantaora<\/em> from Jerez, who in 2019 celebrated 30 years of professional career with a highly acclaimed show at Jerez\u2019s Alc\u00e1zar with over 1200 attendees, has a very special, unique and even enviable Gypsy voice, evoking a bygone era and a generation that has practically vanished. Thus, this <em>cantaora<\/em> from the Santiago district of Jerez is an heir to the invaluable treasure received by oral tradition. She has been showcasing Jerez\u2019s soulful and rhythmic <em>buler\u00eda corta<\/em> since she was four years old, when she was featured in the iconic <em>Rito y Geograf\u00eda del Cante <\/em>TV series.<\/p>\n<p>Her <em>sole\u00e1<\/em> is like a lethal weapon, just like her <em>malague\u00f1a<\/em>, her <em>tientos<\/em> and <em>tangos<\/em>, and whatever else she feels like singing. Nonetheless, she has also accepted the challenge of bringing to life compositions of other renowned authors such as <strong>Gallardo, Cepero<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Fernando Terremoto<\/strong>. <em>El amante se acerca, Sue\u00f1o de amor, Adi\u00f3s Tristeza, El coraz\u00f3n tras la puerta, Volver a Verte\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00a0Maldigo tus ojos verdes<\/em>\u00a0are some of the best-known hits of this <em>cantaora<\/em>. \u2018<em>Jerez por bandera\u2019<\/em>\u00a0is a show produced by IFI Jerez.<\/p>\n<p>That same stage will feature <strong>Mar\u00eda Pag\u00e9s <\/strong>on November 15<sup>th<\/sup>, who will perform <em>\u00d3yeme con los ojos<\/em>, a show inspired by the poem <em>Sentimientos de ausente<\/em>\u00a0(<em>Feelings of the absent<\/em>) by the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century nun, philosopher, composer and poet Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz.
