It was in 2005 when the wider public discovered Diana Navarro\u2019s harrowing voice. This artist, born in Huelin (M\u00e1laga), took by storm the world of music with her single Sola<\/em>, from her album No te olvides de m\u00ed<\/em>. \u00abEl amor tiene una barca que me lleva hasta el dolor<\/em>\u00bb (\u00abLove has a boat that takes me to heartbreak\u00bb<\/em>), the lyrics read. It was impossible not being moved by that new style mixing saetas<\/em>, tangos<\/em> and pop ballads. Harrowing.<\/p>\n

Fourteen years later, critics and fans of Diana Navarro haven\u2019t forgotten this artist from M\u00e1laga. On November 1st<\/sup>, 2019, she\u2019ll officially release her eighth studio album, Inesperado <\/em>(\u201cUnexpected<\/em>\u201d). This is a CD with eleven emotive tracks where copla <\/em>is blended with trap. It\u2019s an album full of variety which never sets aside its essence: copla<\/em><\/strong> and flamenco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00abI\u2019ve always liked to fusion traditional music with other styles. It can be defined as symphonic-electronic flamenco neocopla<\/em>, like I like to call the style that encompasses what I do\u00bb, says the artist herself in an interview for Telemadrid<\/em>.<\/p>\n

With Inesperado<\/em>, Diana Navarro confirms she\u2019s experiencing a mature and sweet period in her career. Her art and impressive voice \u00abpierce the listener with each note and each word through her acrobatic melismas. Her straight poetry and original compositions guarantee a unique experience\u00bb states the record label in the press release.<\/p>\n

Among the eleven tracks, the first single, Encrucijada <\/em>(Crossroad<\/em>), stands out. This is a tribute to one of her idols, Marif\u00e9 de Triana<\/strong>, in trap style. Also noteworthy is Cuando venga el amor <\/em>(When love arrives<\/em>), featuring a music video by Krea Films Producciones<\/a> where the artist bares her body and soul.<\/p>\n

\u00abMy nephews listen to trap and I wanted to show them what can be achieved with more poetic lyrics. I love trap music, but its lyrics horrify me. As I tried to emulate Marif\u00e9 de Triana\u2019s\u00a0Tu cara me suena<\/em>, I thought of this and that\u2019s how Encrucijada<\/em> came to be. Beatriz Luengo<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Mala Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>\u00a0have been my guides to learn the rap part. Since 2005 I\u2019ve been fusing my musical roots with different styles. Sola<\/em>\u00a0is based on a media grana\u00edna<\/em> with a bass line inspired by Michael Jackson<\/strong>\u2018s Billie Jean<\/em>, and I sing the saeta<\/em> with an electric guitar\u00bb, states this artist in an interview published in the Diez Minutos<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n

The production of Inesperado<\/em> \u2014 released by Warner Music Spain \u2014 has been in charge of Bori Alarc\u00f3n<\/strong>. Several great musicians, such as Paco Salazar, I\u00f1aki Garc\u00eda, Carlos Vera, Pedro V\u00e1zquez, Chico Valdivia, Arco y Luis Ramiro, among others, have collaborated in the making of this album.<\/p>\n
