{"id":15878,"date":"2019-10-15T20:09:35","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T18:09:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=15878"},"modified":"2019-10-15T20:34:46","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T18:34:46","slug":"crowfunding-campaign-to-finance-monument-honoring-silverio-franconetti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/en\/actualidad-en\/crowfunding-campaign-to-finance-monument-honoring-silverio-franconetti\/","title":{"rendered":"Crowfunding campaign to finance monument honoring Silverio Franconetti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TecnoTurismo<\/strong>, a company specialized in the organization and promotion of the local tourism in Seville\u2019s countryside, has been working for several months with the visual artist <strong>Miguel \u00c1ngel Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>\u00a0and the researcher <strong>Luis Javier V\u00e1zquez<\/strong>\u00a0in the preparation of a crowdfunding campaign for the creation of a monument honoring <strong>Silverio Franconetti<\/strong>, one of the most important flamenco artists of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century and considered by pioneering flamencologist <strong>Dem\u00f3filo <\/strong>as the creator of the flamenco genre.<\/p>\n<p>To this effect, together with the support of a group called <strong><em>Promonumento Silverio Franconetti<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0made up by lovers of culture and flamenco, they\u2019ve launched a crowdfunding campaign to take place in the next forty days with the goal of financing an ambitious project which seeks to acknowledge the importance Silverio had in the land where he was born, grew up and developed his great work in behalf of the popularization of flamenco, an art declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. It\u2019s a historical debt that can paid with the collaboration of flamenco aficionados, artists and public and private entities on the 130<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Franconetti\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Monumento a Silverio Franconetti 1ra Parte\" width=\"1060\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LCc0VFNK6SE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The monument<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The main element of the monument will be a life-size statue of Franconetti made by the artist Miguel \u00c1ngel Mu\u00f1oz, born in Mor\u00f3n de la Frontera. The main goal of the crowdfunding campaign, launched on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.verkami.com\/\">verkami.com<\/a>, is to raise enough money to make a monument in bust format, although they hope to raise enough funds to make a full-body statue. The bust would be made of bronze and would rest on a pedestal with a plaque as legend. In case enough money is raised for the full-body sculpture, it would rest on a pedestal with a plaque and two side reliefs.<\/p>\n<p>The monument is conceived to be located at a yet-to-be-determined public space. In this case, <strong>Abel Ca\u00edn Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, TecnoTurismo manager, points out that \u201cthe intention is to put this monument in one of the places where Silverio Franconetti undertook his priceless contribution to flamenco\u201d. Rodr\u00edguez states that \u201cthis is a non-profit crowdfunding campaign. The goal is to cover the cost of making the monument, which will be made when that goal is met\u201d. He ads that, as and Andalusian company in the tourism industry, which owes so much to this art, he believes it\u2019s their duty to contribute to the launching of this campaign, so the historical debt that the world of flamenco owes to Silverio can be paid.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Presentations and lectures<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The crowdfunding campaign will be presented in cities like Seville, Madrid, Ronda, C\u00e1diz, Jerez and Mor\u00f3n de la Frontera, among others, where Franconetti lived, grew up and left his influence since the mid 19<sup>th<\/sup> century. These presentations will include lectures and dissertations by experts on Silverio\u2019s life and works.<\/p>\n<p>Such is the case of <strong>Luis Javier V\u00e1zquez<\/strong>, author of the book <em>Silverio Franconetti y los Fillos<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Un viaje por la historia del flamenco<\/em>, released a year ago. This was a self-published book which rekindled the memory of Fraconetti, whom previously had been honored in 1963 at first edition of the <em>Gazpacho Andaluz<\/em>, the flamenco festival of Mor\u00f3n de la Frontera, which honored him again this year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Supporters<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In this sense, the crowdfunding campaign already has many national and international supporters endorsing this initiative, and which will also contribute never-seen-before works about the <em>cantaor<\/em> and entrepreneur from Seville, such as the opera <em>Silverio<\/em> by <strong>Jos\u00e9 Luis Ortiz Nuevo<\/strong>\u00a0and documents from the archive of <strong>Juan Ayala Oya<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Flamenco critics and journalists such as <strong>Manuel Mart\u00edn Mart\u00edn<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Manuel Boh\u00f3rquez<\/strong>, the academic\u00a0<strong>Luis Su\u00e1rez<\/strong>, the musicologist\u00a0<strong>Faustino Nu\u00f1ez<\/strong>, the writer and radio broadcaster <strong>Javier Osuna<\/strong>, the researcher <strong>Estela Zatania<\/strong>, the professor <strong>Cristina Cruces<\/strong>\u00a0and the researcher <strong>Ram\u00f3n Soler<\/strong>\u00a0have already contributed to this campaign, as well as the journalist <strong>\u00c1ngeles Cruzado<\/strong>, the researcher <strong>Guillermo Castro Buend\u00eda<\/strong>, the aficionado <strong>Juan Ayala<\/strong>\u00a0and the Seville-based Japanese flamenco correspondent <strong>Kyoko Shikaze<\/strong>. The campaign is also supported by the director of the <em>Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla<\/em>, <strong>Antonio Zoido Naranjo<\/strong>, and former directors J. Luis Ortiz Nuevo and\u00a0<strong>Manuel Herrera Rodas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the artists who are contributing to this campaign are the director of Seville\u2019s <em>Casa de la Guitarra<\/em>,\u00a0<strong>Jos\u00e9 Luis Postigo<\/strong>, <em>cantaor\u00a0<\/em><strong>Ra\u00fal Montesinos<\/strong>, guitarist\u00a0<strong>Antonio G\u00e1mez<\/strong>, lyricist\u00a0<strong>Manuel Melado<\/strong>, actor\u00a0<strong>Jos\u00e9 Scalzo Gigliotti<\/strong>, as well as others who will be revealed as the campaign progresses.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pe\u00f1as flamencas<\/em> and other institutions have also joined this initiative, while overseas this campaign to create a monument honoring Silverio Franconetti launched by the group <em>Promonumento Silverio Franconetti<\/em> has also been endorsed by flamenco organizations in Italy, France, Belgium, United States, Argentina and Japan.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.verkami.com\/projects\/24779-monumento-a-silverio-franconetti-rey-de-los-cantaores\">Crowfunding website<\/a><\/li>\n<li>For more information, please call 643.232.161 (Abel Ca\u00edn Rodr\u00edguez) \/ 658.314.441 (Miguel A.
