The young cantaora Lidia Montero\u00a0<\/strong>(born in Villaverde del R\u00edo, Seville province, in 1987) was in charge of kicking off the XIII Ciclo Dedicado a la Mujer Gaditana en el Flamenco 2019<\/em><\/strong> (13th Series Dedicated to the Women of Cadiz in Flamenco 2019) on the evening of October 4th<\/sup>. Joined by the Armenian artist and guitarist Vahan<\/strong> and the percussion of Julio Prenda<\/strong>, she presented her show Flamenco Social<\/strong><\/em>, which deals with the topic of inclusion.<\/p>\n

Malague\u00f1as, tientos tangos, milonga, sole\u00e1 por buler\u00eda, canti\u00f1as, seguiriyas <\/em>and fandangos<\/em> were in the repertoire offered by this cantaora <\/em>to the aficionados who filled Pe\u00f1a Flamenca Juanito Villar<\/a><\/em> to capacity.<\/p>\n

Located at the foot of the famous Caleta beach in C\u00e1diz, the mythical Pe\u00f1a Flamenca Juanito Villar<\/em> has been organizing this series since 2007. Except for the first edition, every and each series has been dedicated to renowned female artists of C\u00e1diz, women who have bolstered flamenco in this city and have showcased its art all over the world. Among the honored artists we can mention Adela la Chaqueta<\/strong>,\u00a0Gertrudis Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>,\u00a0Lidia Cabello<\/strong>,\u00a0Mariana Cornejo<\/strong>,\u00a0Leo la Terremoto<\/strong>,\u00a0Patricia Vald\u00e9s<\/strong>,\u00a0Carmen de la Jara\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Encarna Anillo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The 2019 medition is dedicated to cantaora Ana Polanco\u00a0<\/strong>(born in C\u00e1diz in 1987). It was precisely in 2011, when Ana, then just a young, promising artist, became the prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of the great Mariana Cornejo<\/strong>, in the 5th<\/sup> edition of this series, when she was being honored. After getting started in baile flamenco<\/em> at a young age in the academy of Pilar Ogalla, in C\u00e1diz, Ana soon realized that she had a greater talent for cante<\/em>.<\/p>\n

This series will continue for the three remaining Fridays in October, starting at 10 PM. Admission is free until the venue is filled to capacity.<\/p>\n
