As it happens every Autumn season \u2014 and it\u2019s been 35 consecutive years already \u2014 Pe\u00f1a T\u00edo Jos\u00e9 de Paula<\/a>\u00a0has presented its schedule of events for the months of October and November. This Saturday, October 5th<\/sup>, this venue at Merced Street in Jerez\u2019s Santiago neighborhood is planning to start the series with the cante of Rosario Heredia<\/strong>, who will be joined by the guitar of Antonio Malena Jr. Thereafter it will be the turn of cantaores<\/em> such as Manuel de la Tomasa, Jes\u00fas M\u00e9ndez<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Luis \u2018El Zambo\u2019<\/strong> with their respective guitarists.<\/p>\n

The president of this pe\u00f1a, Joaqu\u00edn \u2018El Zambo\u2019<\/strong>, expressed his gratitude to the collaborating businesses, particularly Bodegas<\/em> Marqu\u00e9s del Real Tesoro<\/em>, part of the Grupo Est\u00e9vez<\/a>, which hosted the press conference and, above all, pointed out that \u00abthe effort of the pe\u00f1as<\/em> is constant and without the participation of the members and the good understanding of the artists none of this would be possible\u00bb. One of aspects worth highlighting about this series is that it\u2019s dedicated to Don Antonio Chac\u00f3n <\/strong>in the 150th<\/sup> anniversary of his birth. The Course of Cante Teaching<\/strong>, taught for 23 years in this pe\u00f1a<\/em>, will offer lectures about this acclaimed artist. The event was attended by the president of the C.C.F. \u2018Don Antonio Chac\u00f3n\u2019,\u00a0Juan Alfonso Romero<\/strong>, and the president of Jerez\u2019s Federaci\u00f3n de Pe\u00f1as Flamencas<\/em>,\u00a0Jes\u00fas L\u00f3pez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Rosario Heredia<\/strong>\u00a0is a young cantaora<\/em> belonging to one of the most flamenco<\/em> families of Jerez, from the Asunci\u00f3n district, and is one of the most promising voices in the city. On Saturday, October 12th<\/sup>, it will be the turn of Manuel de la Tomasa<\/strong>, grandson of Jos\u00e9 and great-grandson of Tomasa, who will be joined by the guitar of Miguel Salado<\/strong>. Manuel stated that he is very \u00abexcited because all the great artists of the last few years have performed in this pe\u00f1a<\/em>, and my own grandfather told me that its members are very demanding\u00bb.\u00a0Jes\u00fas M\u00e9ndez<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Diego del Morao<\/strong>\u00a0are scheduled for Saturday, October 19th, at 10 PM, like all other recitals. This duet is without a doubt one of the big surprises in this year\u2019s series. Finally, on October 26th<\/sup>, the last Saturday of the month, the series will be closed by a veteran artist of Jerez, Luis \u2018El Zambo\u2019<\/strong>. This cantaor <\/em>from the Santiago district expressed his joy for \u00abbeing at home, with my people, in my neighborhood\u00bb. Luis, who will be joined by Miguel Salado<\/strong>, expressed being thankful for the opportunity to perform because he \u00abseldom sings in Jerez anymore\u00bb.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the 23rd<\/sup> Course of Cante Teaching will be taught once again by Joaqu\u00edn \u2018El Zambo\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Antonio Higuero<\/strong>, assisted by Manuel Naranjo, Alfredo Ben\u00edtez<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Casta\u00f1o<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
