{"id":15504,"date":"2019-09-26T22:55:08","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T20:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=15504"},"modified":"2019-09-27T00:54:36","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T22:54:36","slug":"marathon-of-guitar-masters-in-barcelona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/en\/actualidad-en\/marathon-of-guitar-masters-in-barcelona\/","title":{"rendered":"Marathon of guitar masters in Barcelona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From September 27<sup>th<\/sup> to December 30<sup>th<\/sup>, Barcelona will offer an unrivalled event for all lovers of flamenco guitar: the series <strong><em>Maestros de la guitarra<\/em><\/strong>, five shows which will be performed regularly for three months, in two different venues. The traditional <strong>Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana\u00a0<\/strong>will host five different shows, among which we\u2019d like to highlight a tribute to Paco de Luc\u00eda. This show will be performed eleven times, and it\u2019s titled <strong>Barcelona Guitar Trio &amp; Dance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In this show, three great masters of Spanish Classical Guitar and Flamenco guitar will get together to perform pieces by Manuel de Falla, Isaac Alb\u00e9niz and Paco de Luc\u00eda.\u00a0<strong>Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Xavier Coll<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Luis Robisco\u00a0<\/strong>will play for the <em>baile<\/em> of\u00a0<strong>Jos\u00e9 M. \u00c1lvarez\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Carolina Morgado<\/strong>, joined by <strong>Paquito Escudero<\/strong>\u2018s <em>caj\u00f3n<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The versatile guitarist <strong>Pedro Javier Gonz\u00e1lez\u00a0<\/strong>will bring two shows to this series. The first one, having just one performance on October 5<sup>th<\/sup>, is called <em><strong>Pedro Javier Gonz\u00e1lez Quartet<\/strong><\/em>, formed by the guitar of <strong>Pepe Camacho<\/strong>, the double bass of <strong>Horacio Fumero<\/strong>, the percussion of <strong>Xavi Garc\u00eda\u00a0<\/strong>and the transverse flute of <strong>Domingo Patricio<\/strong>. For the other show, <em><strong>Pedro Javier Gonz\u00e1lez &amp; Dance<\/strong><\/em>, to take place on November 19<sup>th<\/sup>, this old member of renowned Spanish band <em>El \u00daltimo de la Fila<\/em> adds to his quartet the <em>bailaores <\/em><strong>Carolina\u00a0Morgado\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jos\u00e9 M. \u00c1lvarez<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On October 22nd, the Palau reserves its stage for <strong>Yamand\u00fa Costa<\/strong>, one of the greatest Brazilian guitarists of all time. Even Paco de Luc\u00eda loved his art. \u00a0Yamand\u00fa will play the guitar as a soloist. The fifth show of <em>Maestros de la guitarra<\/em>, to take place on November 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, is titled\u00a0<em><strong>Carmona, Benavent y Serrano<\/strong><\/em>. These are the surnames of three renowned artists: <strong>Josemi Carmona<\/strong> in the flamenco guitar,\u00a0<strong>Carlos Benavent<\/strong> in the electric bass and\u00a0<strong>Antonio Serrano<\/strong> in the harmonica. All of them will be accompanied by the percussion of <strong>Paquito Escudero<\/strong>. <strong>Tomatito <\/strong>will make a surprise appearance as invited artist.<\/p>\n<p>The second stage for the series <em>Maestros de la guitarra\u00a0<\/em>is the imposing <em><a href=\"https:\/\/basilicadelpi.cat\/es\/inicio\/\">Bas\u00edlica de Santa Mar\u00eda de Pi<\/a><\/em>, in Barcelona. This is a seven-hundred-years-old Gothic monument with a maximum capacity of one hundred and forty people.
