The press conference, which took place informally among authorities, artists and media representatives, was directed and protagonized by the director and creator of the festival, <strong>Miguel Mar\u00edn<\/strong>,from C\u00f3rdoba.<\/p>\n<p>Taking up the roles of moderator and interviewer, Mar\u00edn gave the floor to the invited artists, all of whom will perform in this event in London. Thus, <strong>Sara Baras<\/strong>, David Pe\u00f1a\u00a0<strong>Dorantes<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Roc\u00edo Molina<\/strong>, Rosario\u00a0<strong>La Tremendita<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Olga Pericet<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>La Shica<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Andr\u00e9s M\u00e9rida<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Vanesa Aibar<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jes\u00fas Ortega<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sergio de Lope\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Diego Villegas<\/strong> offered their perspectives about the festival. The manager of the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.juntadeandalucia.es\/cultura\/aaiicc\/\">Agencia Andaluza de Instituciones Culturales<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0<strong>Almudena Bocanegra<\/strong>, also took the floor, pointing out the will of the institution to continue to promote flamenco overseas as the greatest cultural manifestation of Andalusia<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u00abThis presentation has been a clear example of harmony and lack of rivalry among today\u2019s young artists. Perhaps we are witnessing a new era in flamenco\u00bb (Miguel Mar\u00edn)<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Flamenco Festival London\u00a0<\/strong>is a private initiative with only twenty per cent of public funding. In this edition we notice an important sway towards younger, edgier flamenco, contrasting with past years when traditional flamenco was the norm. The number of shows has increased significantly, with 53% more performances compared to last year\u2019s edition. The numbers are revealing: 26 shows, 133 artists from 18 companies and a projection of 24,000 spectators. The headliners are <strong>Miguel Poveda<\/strong>,\u00a0Sara Baras,\u00a0Roc\u00edo Molina,\u00a0Olga Pericet,\u00a0<strong>Patricia Guerrero<\/strong>,\u00a0Dorantes,\u00a0<strong>Mar\u00eda Moreno<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Eduardo Guerrero<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mercedes Ruiz<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Mar\u00eda Terremoto<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kiki Morente<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>David Carmona<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Diego Villegas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sergio de Lope<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Antonio Lizana<\/strong>, Rosario\u00a0La Tremendita and an endless list of Spanish and foreign artists.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, <em>baile<\/em> has a greater focus than <em>cante<\/em>, due to the difficulties caused by the language barrier. It\u2019s encouraging to see the participation of British and American artists, who join other artists from countries with a stronger flamenco tradition. <strong>Tim Ries, Adan ben Ezra, Amir ElSaffar, Sabio Janiak, Ivan Bavcevic, Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch, Nanako Aramaki\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0Dena ElSaffar\u00a0<\/strong>are the most noteworthy. The number of venues has also increased, as the festival is no longer limited to the traditional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sadlerswells.com\/\">Sadler\u2019s Wells Theatre<\/a>. In this edition, venues with different formats will also take part: <strong>Lilian Baylis Studio<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rich Mix\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Cervantes Theatre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking exclusively with <strong>Expoflamenco.com<\/strong>, the director of the Flamenco Festival London,\u00a0<strong>Miguel Mar\u00edn<\/strong>, pointed out that \u00abThis presentation has been a clear example of harmony and lack of rivalry among today\u2019s young artists, contrasting with the attitudes of decades ago.
