The 12th edition of the Noche Blanca del Flamenco<\/a><\/em>\u00a0in\u00a0C\u00f3rdoba<\/a>\u00a0is already in progress. It\u2019s an evening filled with comp\u00e1s<\/em> and lots of art. A total of eleven stages will feature in the program, with performances by artists such as Mar\u00eda Terremoto, Remedios Amaya, La Macanita, Esperanza Fern\u00e1ndez and Rosal\u00eda, among others. The plaza de toros<\/em> (bullfighting ring), the Alc\u00e1zar gardens and the plaza de la juventud<\/em> (square of youth) are the new venues added to this Noche Blanca<\/em> (literally, \u201cWhite Night\u201d).<\/p>\n

Isabel Ambrosio<\/strong>, acting mayor of C\u00f3rdoba, has presented this Noche Blanca<\/em>. \u201cCantaoras<\/em>, bailaoras<\/em> and guitarists will pay homage to the women in flamenco to highlight the role of female artists throughout flamenco\u2019s history\u201d, she explained. \u201cNo other city in the world celebrates an evening as original as this\u201d, stated Ambrosio.<\/p>\n

The traditional cante<\/em> of La Macanita or the controversial Rosal\u00eda<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Flamenco and music for all tastes. From Sayama<\/strong>\u2018s flamenco-pop to the most pure cante<\/em> of Mar\u00eda Terremoto, Remedios Amaya, Esperanza Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0La Macanita<\/strong>. Plus, the always-controversial Rosal\u00eda, who is the lineup\u2019s star with a midnight concert at the plaza de toros<\/em>, which has a seating capacity for ten thousand people. This is one of the events in highest demand, with attendance available by exclusive, free invitation until seating capacity is reached. City Council is also considering streaming live the concert of this artist from Catalonia to another public space within the city.<\/p>\n

Baile flamenco in the White Night<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Out of the eleven stages, three of them will feature baile <\/em>as the main protagonist. The Ballet Flamenco de Andaluc\u00eda<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0will take part for the first time in the Noche Blanca del Flamenco<\/em>, opening the program at 10:30 PM, at Tendillas square, with its show Naturalmente Flamenco<\/em>. The bailaora Patricia Guerrero<\/strong>, from Granada, will show off her talent at midnight in La Calahorra, and the bailaoras<\/em> Mercedes de C\u00f3rdoba and Lola P\u00e9rez \u2014 both from C\u00f3rdoba \u2014 will perform on the stage of Patio de San Basilio at 11 PM.<\/p>\n

Rosario Montoya<\/strong>, from Jerez, will play the piano with the group Mujeres Mediterr\u00e1neas <\/em>at Comp\u00e1s de San Francisco. The guitar will also have a special space at Patio de los Naranjos, where a musical ensemble called D\u00fao del Mar<\/em>, formed by Marta Robles<\/strong>, flamenco guitarist, and Ekaterina Z\u00e1ytseva<\/strong>, classical guitarist, will perform.<\/p>\n

Noche Blanca del Flamenco<\/em><\/strong>, Flamenco\u2019s White Night.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Noche Blanca del Flamenco<\/em> has taken place in C\u00f3rdoba since 2008. It has become, by its own merits, one of flamenco\u2019s great events. Artists of the stature of Manolo Sanl\u00facar, Miguel Poveda, Fosforito, Jos\u00e9 Merc\u00e9, Lebrijano, Tomatito, Eva Yerbabuena, Dorantes and Enrique Morente, among others, have performed on its stages. It\u2019s a showcase for flamenco artists from C\u00f3rdoba and from all over the world.<\/p>\n
