The slogan of this edition \u2014 it\u2019s 39<sup>th<\/sup> \u2014 is <em>The Guitar\u2026 Our Heritage<\/em>. To the usual stages of <em>Teatro Axerqu\u00eda<\/em>, <em>Gran Teatro<\/em> and <em>Teatro G\u00f3ngora<\/em> will be added others as iconic as the C\u00f3rdoba Mosque, the Medina Azahara and the courtyards of the Viana Palace, as well as various venues in the <em>Juder\u00eda<\/em> (Jewish Quarter).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Mosque-Cathedral, in the 35th anniversary of its UNESCO designation as World Heritage Site, the historic city center, in its 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary as World Heritage Center, the Courtyards, declared UNESCO\u2019s Intangible World Heritage together with the newly-incorporated Madinat al-Zhara, will have in this edition of the Festival an importance revealing how much we owe to those corners of C\u00f3rdoba that shine year-round by their own right. Those four UNESCO-honored locations that are part of our daily lives and which we protect zealously will be part of this guitar festival, as its ideal soundtrack\u201d, explained <strong>Isabel Ambrosio<\/strong>, mayor of the city, during the presentation of this event.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>A lineup with over twenty concerts<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Over two dozen shows will be featured in the concert lineup of the current edition of the C\u00f3rdoba\u2019s Guitar Festival. Artists of the stature of Saxon, Ida Nielsen, Stanley Clarke, Lila Downs, Rozal\u00e9n, Iv\u00e1n Ferreiro, Lucky Peterson, Marea, Barrueco, David Russell and Miguel R\u00edos will be part of the cast. Yet, as can be naturally expected, flamenco artists such as <strong>Eva la Yerbabuena, Mercedes Ruiz, Paco Cepero, Gerardo N\u00fa\u00f1ez, Ni\u00f1o Pura, Merc\u00e9 <\/strong>and<strong> Tomatito, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Rodr\u00edguez, Manolo Sanl\u00facar<\/strong> and <strong>Ca\u00f1izares<\/strong> will also take part.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tributes to guitar masters <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Besides, the Festival will pay tribute to three great artists in the history of the guitar. The first of them is the master <strong>Joaqu\u00edn Rodrigo<\/strong>, in the 20<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of his death. The Mosque\u2019s Naranjos Courtyard will host <strong>Juan Manuel Ca\u00f1izares<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Jose Mar\u00eda Gallardo del Rey<\/strong> whom, together with the <em>Orquesta de C\u00f3rdoba<\/em>, will perform <em>Concierto de Aranjuez<\/em>, besides several of their own compositions honoring the master. The second tribute will honor <strong>Leo Brouwer<\/strong>\u00a0in his 80<sup>th<\/sup> birthday. A concert will be performed featuring this master and his works, with the premiere of the Choir Leo Brouwer, directed by Javier S\u00e1enz-L\u00f3pez, the guitarist Javier Riba, \u00a0<em>Cuarteto de la Habana<\/em> and the <em>Orquesta\u00a0de C\u00f3rdoba<\/em>, all of them musicians closely associated with this master.<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, the guitarist <strong>V\u00edctor Monge Serranito <\/strong>will be honored in this edition due to his outstanding career, being the topic in the traditional Study Conference that every year features one great guitarist.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Opening by Eva Yerbabuena<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The C\u00f3rdoba Guitar Festival will get started on Thursday, July 4t, 2019, with two shows. At 8:30 PM in the <em>Gran Teatro de C\u00f3rdoba<\/em> <strong>Eva Yerbabuena\u00a0<\/strong>will present her successful show <em>Cuentos de Az\u00facar<\/em>.
