{"id":11352,"date":"2019-04-04T22:13:09","date_gmt":"2019-04-04T20:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/?p=11352"},"modified":"2019-04-04T22:13:09","modified_gmt":"2019-04-04T20:13:09","slug":"from-rosalia-to-traditional-flamenco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expoflamenco.com\/archivo\/en\/bordonazo-new\/from-rosalia-to-traditional-flamenco\/","title":{"rendered":"From Rosal\u00eda to traditional flamenco?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don\u2019t know if I\u2019ve ever said the opposite, because I\u2019ve written so many things that I\u2019ve lost track of what I have and haven\u2019t said yet, but at this very moment and listening to <strong>Tom\u00e1s Pav\u00f3n<\/strong>\u00a0singing <em>soleares de\u00a0<strong>La Serneta<\/strong><\/em> in my den, I don\u2019t think I believe that successful artists such as <strong>Rosal\u00eda<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Miguel Poveda<\/strong>\u00a0will create tons of new flamenco aficionados for the future.<\/p>\n<p>I have to admit that before I discovered <strong>Juan Talega, Chac\u00f3n<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Mairena<\/strong>, I used to listen to those popular cantaores who were often featured on the radio: <strong>Turronero, Camar\u00f3n, Pansequito<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Morente<\/strong>. Sure enough, those artists where first-rate, which is not the case with Poveda or Rosal\u00eda. I have to point out, because I know there will be controversy about this, that I think Poveda is a master of cante, next to the popular singer from Barcelona, whom I consider a total fake.<\/p>\n<p>In order to read <strong>Shakespeare<\/strong>\u00a0is not necessary to read beforehand Danielle Steele or Stephen King, right? Well, by the same logic, to get to Chac\u00f3n or <strong>Juan Mojama<\/strong>\u00a0no there is no need to listen to Rosal\u00eda and her decaffeinated and bland flamenquito. If at least she were able to pull some flamenco moves it wouldn\u2019t be so bad, but she dances like a shire horse inside a trailer.<\/p>\n<p>Everything is so artificial that I don\u2019t get why flamenco critics give her so much credit nowadays. I guess they hope to get invited to a concert one day and then going for a ride in her private jet, although I don\u2019t know if she has one yet. I know one aficionado who would be willing to buy one for here, the tireless Villarejo. Not the inspector, but that of the Ronda cheeses.<\/p>\n<p>It should not be a goal having young people discover Chac\u00f3n o\u00a0<strong>Manuel Torres<\/strong>, because they\u2019ll first discover the artist of their own generation, and then they\u2019ll either seek those essential artists or they\u2019ll remain in their own time. There are also young artists with solid flamenco essence, such as <strong>Antonio Reyes, Mar\u00eda Terremoto<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rancapino Chico\u00a0<\/strong>or<strong>\u00a0Manuel de la Tomasa<\/strong>.
