In the morning of June 25th, the second edition of Caló Flamenco a la 52 Fiesta de la Bulería, Jerez de la Frontera’s summer festival, was presented in Seville. The act took place at the Fundación Cristina Heeren de Arte Flamenco, located in the historic Pureza Street of Triana.

In a beautiful enclosed courtyard surrounded by blue Sevillian tiles, the mayor deputy and delegate for Cultural Dynamization, Heritage and Historic Downtown, Paco Camas, spoke to the media. Next to him was Cristina Heeren, president of the foundation that bears her name, the bailaora María del Mar Moreno and the guitarrist José Quevedo Bolita. Among the public, representing the more than 200 artists who will take part in the festival, were La FarrucaEsperanza FernándezMaría BermúdezAntonio MalenaZaira MalenaMaría Bermúdez and Coral de los Reyes.

From July 5th to August 24th, the festival shows will be spread in five series: the traditional Viernes Flamencos, the 2nd International Festival of Flamenco GuitarBohemian Nights, the MIMA Festival and the 52nd Fiesta de la Bulería. The latter changes its format from a single evening to three, on August 22nd, 23rd and 24th, headlined by María Terremoto, María Bermúdez and María del Mar Moreno, respectively.

Among the more relevant venues, we can highlight the Patio de San Fernando at the Alcázar de Jerez, which will host the Viernes Flamencos and the Bohemian Nights. The Museo Arqueológico de Jerez will be the stage for the 4th Músicas Improvisadas MIMA. The Claustros de Santo Domingo is the venue selected for the International Guitar Festival. The Fiesta de la Bulería, as usual, will fill with compás the Alameda Vieja. We can’t forgett mentioning the Villamarta Theater, veritable temple of art in Jerez, and the peñas flamencas Buena GenteDon Antonio Chacón and Los Cernícalos.
