‘Barrica Jonda’, a new flamenco series in Zamora

Artists of the caliber of Antonio Reyes, Rancapino Chico, Pepe el Boleco and Manuel de la Tomasa will take part in this new flamenco initiative in Zamora organized by the Pagos del Rey Wine Museum

It’s always worth celebrating whenever flamenco is promoted anywhere around the world. The Pagos del Rey Wine Museum in Zamora has presented a new musical series where flamenco is at centerstage. This event — titled Barrica Jonda — perfectly pairs two worlds not too far apart: wine and cante jondo.

This series takes place in November and December 2109. «Flamenco aficionados will have the opportunity to enjoy three concerts where renowned cantaores and famous guitarists will perform», explained the director of the Wine Museum, Roberto Castaño, during the presentation.

Barrica Jonda gets started on November 8th with the recital of Rancapino Chico, joined by the guitar of Antonio Higuero. A few days later, on November 22nd, Pepe El Boleco and Manuel de la Tomasa — two young and emerging flamenco artists — will showcase their talent on stage joined by guitarist Antonio Carrión. The series will end on December 13th with the performances of cantaor Antonio Reyes and guitarist Diego Amaya.

The program has been designed by Zamora’s foro flamenco with the collaboration of the expert Isaac Garduño. «The wider public will be able to enjoy the cante of traditional cantaores such as Rancapino Chico or Antonio Reyes and young, emerging flamenco talent such as Pepe El Boleco and Manuel de la Tomasa», stated Garduño.

All concerts will take place at 9 PM at the Wine Museum’s cellar room. Thirty minutes before the start of the recitals, the attendees will be able to taste a welcome wine to «warm up the soul», in the words of the organizers. There is a limited number of tickets that will allow entry to all three concerts for forty euros. Tickets for individual concerts cost seventeen euros. Both can already be purchased at the Wine Museum, Multicolchón Zamora or Entradasgo.com.
