A special night for flamenco in Puente Genil
As it happens on August 14th of every year, the ‘Festival de Cante Grande Fosforito’ takes place in Puente Genil. Arcángel, Julián Estrada, David Palomar, David Pino, Miguel Lavi and bailaora Yolanda Osuna will perform.
This is the 53rd edition of the Festival de Cante Grande de Puente Genil, which is held in the city where the current holder of the Golden Key of Cante, Antonio Fernández Díaz Fosforito, was born. Ever since 1966, when it was created, the festival takes place on August 14th, the eve of Puente Genil’s Feria Real. It’s been officially designated a Tourist Attraction of Andalusia
This year the festival will honor one of the city’s best cantaores from the second half of the 20th century, Perico Lavado. Pedro Lavado Rodríguez (Puente Genil, 1932-1998) specialized in malagueñas, zánganos de Puente Genil, fandangos de Lucena and serranas. It was precisely in this latter palo that he was awarded First Prize in the Concurso Nacional de Flamenco de Córdoba.
As usual, the Festival de Cante Grande Fosforito has put together a first-class lineup. In cante, it will feature the voices of Arcángel, Julián Estrada, David Palomar, David Pino and Miguel Lavi. The guitars will be played by Dani de Morón, Manuel Silveria, Jesús Zarrías, Rafael Rodríguez, Gabriel Expósito, José Tomás and Manuel Parrilla. Bailaora Yolanda Osuna will be joined by cantaores Manuel Soto, Bernardo Miranda and Jesús Corbacho, and the guitar of Manuel Pérez. Finally, compás will be in charge of the Gamero borthers, Roberto Jaén, Anabel Rivera, Juan Diego Valencia, Manuel Cantarote and percussionist Miguel Santiago.
